Venue: The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability
This is a continuing professional development event primarily for music therapists
and music therapy students*. The one day course, which has a practical emphasis
consists of workshops on specific music therapy techniques used in neuro-disability ,
including neurologic music therapy. There will be space for hands on trialling of the
techniques as well as time for discussion. There will be opportunity to attend 4
workshops as follows:
 Workshop on Technology - This will include hands on use of assistive
technology with links to clinical application/case study material.
 NMT workshop - An outline of the techniques used in neurologic music therapy
covering areas of cognition, sensorimotor and speech and language with
practical examples.
 Disorders of Consciousness / MATADOC - Basic introduction to disorders of
Consciousness and use of MATADOC Tool in a MDT setting.
 Psycho-socio –emotional - Practical workshop on some techniques including
song choice, song singing, song parody and relaxation.
Cost: £95
Student Rate: £60
20 student places are available so please book early to avoid disappointment, any
places over this 20 will need to pay the full rate.
