Web IDEA 2013 – Basic Electronic Changes for the new Applications
The purpose of this document is to provide some detail for a change that will occur in the Web IEP
when the new IDEA application is released in July of 2013. This content has been reviewed and
approved by Department of Education personnel.
Meeting Types
Current Situation
Amendments are a meeting type. On reports, when a meeting type is reported, nearly one third to
half of the meetings are reported as amendments because the type has been switched from the
Initial, Review or Reevaluation type. This makes it difficult to track down the pre-Amended meeting
type.
There is no electronic provision for 45 Day Trial Out IEP. Interim is an IEP meeting type, but there
are no specific electronic requirements for an Interim IEP.
2013 Change
Amendment will no longer be a meeting type, but rather a ‘condition’ of an Initial, Review or
Reevaluation meeting. There will be ‘amended’ Initial IEPs, ‘amended’ Annual Review IEPs and
‘amended’ Reevaluation IEPs. Amended meetings will continue to be with or without a meeting.
There will be an electronic provision for a 45 Day Trial Out. This will be a ‘condition’ of an Annual
Review or a Reevaluation meeting. Indication of a 45 Day Trial Out will manipulate the Duration To:
date on Page A. The duration will be defaulted to 63 calendar days from the date of the meeting; 45
school days plus 18 weekend days. The ‘Duration To:’ date may be manually changed to account for
school breaks such as Christmas or spring break.
Interim IEPs will also utilize the 63 calendar day ‘Duration To:’ guidelines named above, without the
ability to manually manipulate the ‘Duration To:’ date. Interim IEPs will only require Pages A and F to
be complete.
Interim and 45 Day Trial Out IEPs cannot be amended.
