 Highlighting and increasing

researched-based programs &
strategies in the areas of writing,
math and reading.

Fall/Winter: Create and upload
professional learning sessions and
resources on itslearning.

Instruction
Increase graduation rate of SWD by
focusing on student advocacy skills and
self awareness of learning by:
 Providing support on student led
IEP meetings & developing
meaningful transition plans.
 Getting students and parents ready
for college expectations and the
navigating skills that are needed for
success.
 Collaborating in vertical teams to
help students transition from
preschool to post-secondary.
 Collaborating with Student Support
Department, provide professional
learning in the area of mental
health issues.
Preplanning: Professional learning
provided on the 7 Mindsets to be
implemented with at-risk SWD at the
high school level.
Fall: Professional learning provided on
student lead IEPs, college expectations
and vocational rehabilitation.
Fall/Winter: Guest speakers to address
mental health issues and how we
support these needs in the educational
setting.
Ongoing: Support vertical team
meetings by having facilitator attend
and share at Dept. Chair meetings.

Instruction
Develop well written Individualized
Educational Plans (IEPs) to support
student learning by:
 Providing professional learning in
writing IEPs. Focusing on IEP
goals/objectives, service segments,
modified curriculum, and content
integration.
 Facilitators reviewing two IEPs from
each teacher for feedback.
 Providing administrators guidance
for specialized classrooms and
knowledge of IDEA to support
written IEPs.
Fall: Provide direct instruction to new
staff on writing IEPs. Provide review
modules for writing IEPs to all staff.
Fall/Winter: Review two IEPs for each
special education teacher.
Winter: Host webinar for new teachers
to learn more about conducting an IEP
meeting, personalizing the IEP agenda
and using our one page directions to
support compliance of IDEA.
Ongoing: Provide administrators with
additional support for instruction of
SWD and understanding of IDEA.
Ongoing: Provide schools with
professional learning & consultation for
appropriate accommodations and
interventions for SWD.
