CHAIR’S UPDATE: Jan Yousef
My Career, My Future 2012 Report:
The Career Night 2012 Report to Council was forwarded to council members prior to the meeting for their review.
This 5-page report prepared by Event Coordinator Jan Yousef included a Summary of the Event, Event Statistics
(careers represented, and graph illustrating the most popular booths), Budget Summary, Financial Statement,
Report to the Ministry of Education, Participant Feedback and Recommendations for Improvement.
Jan reviewed her report with council and discussion touched on generating further awareness of the event through
the June School Council News, a link on the website, the guidance office, the Grade 10 Careers Course, a booth at
pre-registration in August and Grade 9 night in September. Saira suggested that the event be introduced to the
Newcomers at their orientation in August. In addition, a suggestion was made to use the online survey tool
“Survey Monkey” to solicit feedback for next year’s event. A link to the survey on the council website could be
communicated through emails informing the school community.
It was recommended that a search for “new” speakers also be initiated in the June School Council News and that
“Save the Date” cards for Wednesday, November 13, 2013 be sent out early to returning speakers.
Additional feedback gathered from this event to be discussed further at the next meeting.

Valleys.
Council Annual Report
The Council Annual Report was forwarded for council members’ review prior to the meeting. This report will be
distributed in the orientation package students will receive prior to the start of the 2013-2014 school year.

Hand at the end of the period (August 31, 2013)”. Although the balances are non-zero, this money is not
