The Systems Solutions business area has a dynamic and rapidly expanding portfolio of
commercial programmes. Our global customer base is investing in exciting new
technologies and solutions to both drive efficiencies and build technology platforms for
future business growth. The system engineer will enrich the system engineering team of
Lockheed Martin and be a key member of our future success.
Specific Job Description:
The Solution Architect will be responsible for delivering innovative solutions to challenging
customer problems. You will engage directly with our customers to capture business
requirements and transform these through analysis and design into technical solutions.
You will educate and energise the team throughout the engineering lifecycle to ensure the
successful and focused delivery of solutions.
Required Skills:
 Proven ability to work with the customer to capture and document business
requirements, user journeys, functional and non-functional requirements in a traceable,
systematic manner
 Proven experience in complex business system design, particularly in the commercial
IT domain.
 Knowledge of one or more recognised industry standard solution modelling
frameworks, e.g. EAP, TOGAF, etc.
 Ability to analyse requirements, document a solution design (e.g. with UML), and lead
an engineering team to develop a technical solution
 Experience of the full IT solution lifecycle.
 Proven leader with good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to
discuss business requirements and present solution designs to both customers and
internal team resources.
Desired Skills:
 TOGAF v9 certified
 ITIL Foundation certified
 Experience with system modelling toolsets (e.g. Enterprise Architect, Rational, etc.)
 Experience large-scale enterprise integration technologies, e.g. messaging, web
services, etc.

Knowledge of agile methods and agile solution architectures
Standard Job Description:
Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing complex computer systems.
Determines systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for
hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security. Coordinates design
of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program
support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. May provide technical
guidance for database administrators and software developers.
Typical Minimum Education & Experience:
Ideally require a Bachelors degree from an accredited college and capability typically
achieved through demonstrable professional experience. Will also consider individuals
with equivalent experience / combined education. Considered an emerging authority
