Message from the Dean

Dear Postgraduate Researcher
Happy New Year!
I am writing to you in my capacity as Dean of Postgraduate Research Studies for the University to ask
for your help with a matter which is relatively dull and bureaucratic, but of importance to the
University.
You may have heard of Researchfish. It’s a system which is being used by the Research Councils in
the UK to gather information about the researchers whom they fund and the outcomes of their
work. As a Research Council-funded PGR, you should already have received information about how
to register with Researchfish. If you have not already done so, please register as a researcher now
by contacting researchoutcomes@rcuk.ac.uk. If you are already registered, we are asking you to log
in to the system to check that all information is correct and up-to-date. It is important, in particular,
that you are registered with the correct supervisor, so if your main supervisor may have changed
(e.g. if you are attached to a CDT, where you may have originally been registered with a provisional
supervisor pending confirmation of your final project) please check this particularly carefully. If you
have any research outputs to record we need you to add these too at this stage. We need to ask
for your help with this because the system does not allow the University to access your account and
make changes on your behalf: only you can do this for your own account. The deadline
for submission of all this is 10th March 2016, and we would ask you to adhere to this strictly.
It is important to us that you do this because the Research Councils will penalise institutions which
do not comply with their regulations for the use of Researchfish, and this may mean that we cannot
apply for Research Council funding to support our research in future. This funding (for PGRs and for
research projects) is absolutely vital to the University’s success, and we therefore really need you to
help us by complying with any requests that you might receive relating to Researchfish.
If you have any queries about this, please contact support@researchfish.com
With thanks for your help and support and very best wishes
Claire Honess
