requirements for all instructors. These requirements promote a positive

Preceptorship
 Undergraduate Nursing Preceptorships
o Requests from Staff Education will be made 3 times a year (Fall,
Summer, Winter) for your department to offer nurses to serve as
preceptors for our local nursing programs. Usually the request is for
senior students completing a Cap Stone Course and traditionally is
heaviest during spring semester.
o There are variables that only the department leadership are aware of, so
it is at the Department Director’s discretion who can serve as an
undergraduate preceptor.
o To maintain fair and equitable community offerings, Cone does not
support an individual school’s solicitation of a preceptor.
o If a school representative approaches a nurse to be a preceptor, the
nurse should let their department director know if they are interested
and refer the school representative to Staff Education for the preceptor
request process.

Employee students – An employee seeking to complete a component of course
work at Cone (included clinical, non-clinical, research) must meet certain onboarding requirements.
o Affiliate agreement with your school
o School ability to verify and maintain documentation of credentialing
requirements
o Course Work Request form submitted by the Academic Point of Contact
(APOC).
o Independently acquire a preceptor or a Cone Point of Contact person
(CPOC).
I appreciate the effort it takes to host students on your department and am grateful for
your work in offering exceptional learning experiences.
