Ducab to showcase technological advancements at MEE Summit 2014
Company will highlight 60-year certified nuclear cables among range of market-leading
cables and accessories
Dubai, UAE, 11 February 2014: Ducab, the Middle East’s leading manufacturer of highquality cables and cabling products, is set to unveil its latest range of nuclear cables at the
upcoming Middle East Electricity (MEE) Summit in Dubai, of which Ducab is a Bronze
sponsor. This range of nuclear cables is the first of its kind to be certified for a 60-year lifespan.
“Ducab’s participation at the Middle East Electricity Exhibition is a demonstration of our
commitment to support the region’s growing energy sector,” said Ducab’s Chairman, Eng.
Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri. “Our nuclear certified cables represent the latest advancements in
cable manufacturing, and are the first in the world to be certified to 60 years life.”
Jointly owned by the governments of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Ducab will commence supply of
specialist cables for the nuclear facility in Barakah in the first half of this year. The US$20
billion Barakah nuclear facility, comprising of 4 units, is the first civil nuclear plant in the
Middle East, with each unit supplying 1400MW of electricity by 2020.
Over the last year, Ducab has cemented its position in the power sector – and specifically
around renewable energy – by working alongside two of the largest solar power-generation
projects – Shams 1 by Masdar, Abu Dhabi, and Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar
Park together with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
“Our vast experience cuts across every aspect of the energy industry, including oil and gas,
renewable energy, petrochemicals and utilities. We will also be utilising our presence at this
event to support our export focus into markets like the GCC, UK, Australia, Hong Kong, Iraq,
and France”, continued Eng. Al Dhaheri.
In addition to nuclear cables, Ducab will also showcase other energy cables at MEE Summit,
including its expanded product portfolio in nuclear, rubber, marine, and fire-resistant
cables. Since 2013, the company has focused on fire safety in a major way with an initiative
Ducab launched in partnership with the UAE Civil Defence Authorities. Aimed at educating
both end-users and installers in the importance of electrical fire safety, the company’s
PowerOverFire campaign included roadshows across UAE to promote FlamBICC fire
resistance cables that are notable for emitting low smoke and no hazardous gases in
situations of fire.

Ducab has also announced the formation of Ducab Aluminium together with Senaat, and
this manufacturing unit in KIZAD, Abu Dhabi, will see a unique partnership with Emirates
Aluminium (EMAL), who will provide 100% of Ducab Aluminium’s molten aluminium
requirement.
