TEST WILL COVER:
Structure/function of cell membrane (quiz material), passive transport (diffusion, facilitated diffusion,
osmosis) and active transport (endocytosis, exocytosis, pumps, phagocytosis, pinocytosis). In addition to
understanding the structure and function of the cell membrane why the fluid mosaic model is a good fit
to describe its various roles (protection, identification/ recognition, transport, and communication), you
may be asked to make predictions based on your understandings of the concepts discussed in class (like
what would happen if a cell was placed in a specific type of solution or analyze and explain why certain
phenomena occurred) using terminology from this section including, concentration gradient, hypertonic,
hypotonic, isotonic…etc.
RESOURCES FOR TEST:
-
Structure of cell membrane quiz, quia, ppts on cell structure and cell boundary notes, DO NOWs,
videos and animations watched in class (virtual lab), Diffusion lab and Observing osmosis in
gummy bear lab.
