Class Four: OBJ: Students will be introduced to the short story genre, read a short story in class
and be introduced to the 12 sentence paragraph Voc. 2, Begin literary genre study: Unit 1 “The Short
Story” Eleven by Sandra Cisneros, introduce 12 sentence paragraph format HMWK: Read Reunion and
write a 12 sentence paragraph analyzing the character of both the father and son. What does the son’s
reaction to his father reveal about his character? Be sure to give specific examples to support claims.

Class One: : Students will be introduced to rhetoric and its definition, students will participate in
an exercise and discuss how fast food ads are an example of rhetoric; students will discuss the
technique of annotating and analyzing a visual text in preparation for their mode work, they will
also discuss the how to transition their analysis to the essay Voc. Ch. 2quiz/PSAT quiz, Introduce

Class One: OBJ: students discuss the rhetorical device of style, structure and syntax and
participate in collaborative exercises that have to do with syntax, style and structure, students will
be introduced to the style chart that will eventually help them with the multiple choice section of the
AP exam PSAT Quiz, Introduce Rhetorical Strategies- Style and Syntax and Structure pp.67-72

sentence paragraph format, they will draw their analysis from their 12 sentence paragraph written

Discuss Sixteen by Jessamyn West HMWK: Read Lady or The Tiger and write a 12 sentence paragraph
explaining which choice you think that the princess chose? Use specific evidence from the story to
