Information for Applicants for the Post of Key Stage two Teacher
Thank you for your interest in this post. We are keen to appoint a strong teacher, with a confident command of an
innovative curriculum to take over from the second half of the Summer Term.
On March 1st 2014 the school became a converter Academy and joined the St Christopher’s Multi Academy Trust.
The present school buildings have developed over the years since 1958, so that we now possess 11 classrooms, staff
office as well as large staff room, a small Thrive room, a nursery, an ICT suite, a good sized hall, 3 library areas, a
sports field, 2 hard play areas and an environmental area complete with pond.
St Marychurch is a small community on the outskirts of Torquay, within the Torbay Local Authority. The focus of the
community is the pedestrian precinct and the Church. Although there are several primary schools within St
Marychurch, ours is the only Church of England voluntary aided school and as such we value our close links with the
Church and our role in the local community. Junior children attend mass at the Church fortnightly and the whole
school attends a service in Church at least once a term. There has been a school on the site since 1878 and there are
families who have been attending this school for many generations. However, Torquay has a high transient
population and so we also have many families whose children regularly move schools. We are wholly committed to
inclusivity and the care and safeguarding of everyone in our whole school community.
In our Ofsted inspections over the last few years, we have moved from satisfactory to ‘good with outstanding
features’. If you want to join us as we continue on our learning journey and feel you are an energetic, reliable and
