JUNIOR CONCERT BAND (JCB)
CONDUCTOR – Sam Goldsworthy
Little Hill Primary School, Launceston Road, off Station Road, Wigston Magna, Leicester, LE18 2GZ
Saturdays 10.00am - 12.40pm.
Congratulations on being invited to join the newly formed Junior Concert Band. The Band will offer
younger musicians a new and exciting opportunity to work together and achieve high standards of
performance in preparation for progressing through the LSMS Central Performance Groups.
Rehearsals will feature the Band performing as a whole but it is also hoped will include elements of
Music Theory and sectional coaching.


All members are expected to practise your music regularly, and take it to instrumental lessons
where possible to get teacher advice.
All members expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts as scheduled. Both the success of
the Ensemble and the standard of playing are dependent on everyone attending all rehearsals as
part of the team.
Concerts
 Full details of planned performance will be emailed to you when rehearsals start.
 You must be prepared to make attendance at all concerts a top priority.
 Concert Dress for Boys; Black trousers, white shirt, bow tie, black shoes and black socks.
Girls; Black skirts (at least knee length) or trousers with a white blouse and black shoes.
 Final details about concerts (rehearsals, ticket information, etc), will be emailed out to Parents /
Carers approximately three weeks before the performance. This information will also be posted
on the Leicester-Shire Music Education Hub website on the Events page.
www.leicestershiremusichub.org/events . Parent / Carers without an email address will receive
this information by post.
Rehearsal Schedule
 Please see below for all known JCB rehearsals.
Transport
 Currently, transport is provided from various points around the City and County at a subsidised
cost to parents. Members using LSMS transport should alight at the Guthlaxton Campus and catch
the shuttle to Little Hill – this will be a supervised transfer. The termly fee for transport is £50.00.
Sheet Music
 The cost of buying or hiring orchestral parts is a big expense to the Band. Please take great care
of all music issued to you and always return it punctually and in good condition.
 If for whatever reason you decide to leave the Band, you must return all your music to LSMS as
soon as possible. Failure to do so will result in you being charged for replacement copies.
The termly fee for this group is £46.00. This reduced termly amount is part of a strategy to
encourage membership and help LSMS sustain progression and access for all students. An
invoice for the termly charge will be emailed to you early in the term. If you do not use email, this will
be posted to you. If your child is in more than one performance group, all charges will be shown on
one invoice.
