BURMAN INFANT SCHOOL
NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER 2015
Remembrance Day
Poppies will be on sale from Wednesday 4th November for children to buy (5p or 10p
contribution please). Remembrance Day will be discussed in assembly and class. We will
hold a two minute silence at the end of playtime on Wednesday 11th as a mark of respect.
Reception Open Day
RECEPTION OPEN DAY IS ON Thursday 12th November
Either 9.00am - 10.00am or 2.15pm - 3.15pm
Prospective reception parents are welcome to visit our reception classrooms during these
times. We do ask that children do not accompany on this occasion (to minimise disruption
for children who are still settling into current Nursery routines). Nursery sessions will run as
usual.
Thank you
PTA Update
We are delighted that Burman PTA has an excellent team to provide community
opportunities and raise funds to benefit the children. Thank you to Sarah Godwin/Sacha
Bagnall and Liz Phillips who are joint ‘chair people’. Many others have stepped forward to
offer help and the meetings have been very well attended. Thank you everyone for your
support 
Our School Council have been meeting to discuss new benches and a new rain gauge for our
playground (Funded by the PTA)
Winter Weather
Please ensure that the children bring a named warm coat, gloves and scarf and that they are
dressed appropriately for cold and wet weather.
The Shirley Lions Club
We are collecting any unused glasses (without cases) or hearing aids on behalf of the Shirley
Lions Club. If your family have any please put them in the collecting box in the School
Reception. They will be sent to Third World Countries.
Reading Challenge 2015
