A STATUS
SUMMARY
Provide armed and un-armed security protection of federal, state and local government facilities. Carries out instructions primarily
oriented toward insuring that emergencies and security violations are readily discovered and reported to appropriate authority.
B Intervenes directly only in situations which require minimal action to safeguard property or persons.
Enforces regulations designed to prevent breaches of security. Exercises sound judgment and use discretion in dealing with first
response; able to keep situation under surveillance, or to report situation so that it can be handled by appropriate authority.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Including, but not limited to:

Ensure the building/premise is safe and secured.
Prevent entry of unauthorized personnel and prohibit articles into restricted areas.
Maintain a log book with details of patrols.
Conduct routine checks throughout the property.
Report all suspicious acts happening on the premises to the police.
Enforce and adhere to all the rules and regulations and to warn the violators regarding possible consequences.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
 Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally eligible to work in the United States
 Must meet at least one of the following experience/education levels listed below:
o Three years of security/LE experience within past five years
o Three years of military experience
o Successful completion of a state certified Law Enforcement Education and Training or Police Officers’ standard
training course
 Proficiency in English (Written or Spoken)
 Pass medical/physical, agility test and urine drug screen showing proof of negative results

 Familiarity with securing facilities and/or vehicles at a fixed location
 Physically capable of standing a 12-hour post
 Firearms training and firearms qualifications, and company certifications, meet state certifications
 Must pass Federal Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) suitability requirements
 Driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance and the ability to travel to local facilities.
 Must pass Background check and or security clearance.
Training
Qualified applicant must complete three week training program that includes firearms qualification, classroom instruction and
successful passing of the FPS Protective Security Officer Exam.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Generally indoors and outdoors, within an enclosed security post area and or outdoors as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Will be required to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time. The employee is regularly required to talk, including the ability to
pass on information via the telephone, and verbally communicate with clients, staff and other employees, hear and see in order to
perform his or her duties in a safe manner, including occasionally driving as needed to perform all requirements of this position.
