Position Description Title: Position Number: Classification: Division: Branch: Section: Reports to: Greenway Yard & Workshop Officer 5279 Network Services Service Delivery Substation Maintenance Works Coordinator, Distribution Substations POSITION OVERVIEW The position resides within the Substation Maintenance Section of the Service Delivery Branch, is responsible for the scheduling and delivery of zone and district substation inspection, maintenance and construction, streetlight inspection, maintenance and construction, and system protection and underground cable fault location. The Section’s execution of planned maintenance activities ensures that the substation and streetlight infrastructure is constructed and maintained to required standards. This work, along with the work of other Sections within the Branch, plays a major role in ensuring the ongoing daily efficient functioning of ActewAGL’s electricity supply network. Reporting to Works Coordinator Distribution Substations, the Greenway Yard and Workshop Officer is accountable to undertake regular inspections of the electrical workshop plant and equipment, and arrange maintenance and repairs of the equipment. Ensure that the Greenway yard is maintained in a safe and tidy state and arrange as required appropriate contractors for rubbish and scrap removal as necessary. The Responsibilities of the position include: Maintain the safe and operational requirement of the Greenway Depot yard ensuring that items are stored appropriately, Ensure that the Depot is maintained in a clean and tidy fashion. Control of the electrical workshop ensuring that all equipment associated with the workshop is maintained in an operational status. Conduct audits on all equipment to ensure worthiness and appropriate authorisation of users. Organise training of workshop users. Operation of the engraving machine to provide labels as requested. Carry out “test and tag” services for any new equipment purchased outside of the normal testing regime. Manage and maintain the equipment asset management system (currently Protrak) as items of plant are purchased, replaced or disposed. Contribute to the development of work/safety instructions. Develop good working relationships with other Team members to facilitate information exchange, problem solving and professional support. Take steps to rectify on own initiative, and then report, any hazards in the workplace. Observe and practice healthy, safe and environmentally acceptable work methods. Immediately report to the Works Coordinator Distribution Substations all injuries, illnesses, incidents causing environmental harm and near misses, no matter how minor. Participate in investigation of incidents if required. Able to pass on information accurately upwards and to team. Attend and participate in work team and section meetings and attend all required training. Provide input into improvement opportunities. Be eligible to or hold a Statement of attainment in “Safety Testing of Electrical Appliances” code SA-TC45 A recognised Trades Certificate in a construction industry role is preferred but not essential. Able to identify, promote and implement safe work practices in a team environment. Able to communicate effectively to team members about task objectives and performance requirements. Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively convey information and knowledge. Able to work within required company processes and ensure compliance is achieved and demonstrated. Demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and achieving effective outcomes.
