Cell Report - PreAP
MAJOR GRADE
Objective: (i) investigate and explain cellular processes and (ii) analyze scientific explanations
concerning the complexity of the cell, by creating a report. This report is broken down into three
sections.
Section 1 (30 points) – Stem Cell Research: Summarize stem cell research based on the
following website: http://www.biologyjunction.com/stemcell_article.htm . The summary must be
a minimum of one page (typed). The purpose is to acquaint you with scientific literature, expose
you to current science research, and to allow you to analyze scientific explanations concerning
the complexity of the cell.
Section 2 (15 points) – Science Article: Summarize a science related article of your choice. The
summary must be one to two paragraphs in length. You may choose your own source or use one
of the suggested magazines. Suggested science magazines to use are:
http://www.sciencemag.org/ and http://discovermagazine.com/. Please ensure to state your
reference(s) (be specific).
Section 3 (50 points) – Cell Structures: Define the structure and function of structures found in
a eukaryotic cell. Also state whether the structure is found in plants, animals or both cells.
Overall, this section should include the following information:
a. Title (type of cell)
b. Labeled picture of a eukaryotic cell (you may print a picture; however, you must label
the picture)
c. The booklet should include at least the following (place in the order listed):

or (c) Report Blog.
