POSITION SUMMARY
Explain the purpose for the position and summarize the responsibilities.
The Secret Seconds Inventory Clerk is responsible for picking up furniture donations and delivering to Secret
Seconds Stores, moving below-standard merchandise onto trucks and delivering merchandise to the landfill, moving
merchandise and equipment as needed, and acting as an ambassador for the YWCA in the community. Performance
of duties reflects the YWCA value that all human beings will be treated with respect and dignity and approached with
recognition of their individual importance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications for skills, abilities, knowledge, experience, and education.











High school diploma or GED required.
Experience with driving large vehicles preferred.
Current Montana driver’s license and proof of auto insurance in compliance with Montana state law.
Must pass a background check designed to protect the interests of YWCA donors and clients.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Knowledge of safe methods of moving heavy, bulky items using hand trucks.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a variety of individuals, including clients,
donors, peers and supervisors.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other staff, agencies, and community contacts.
Good work habits, including punctuality and ability to organize and manage time and information.
Ability to accept, act on and offer constructive criticism.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
INVENTORY CLERK
 Schedules furniture pick-ups; transports donated/purchased furniture for the Secret Seconds Store (and
occasionally for Transitional Housing), as needed.
 Gives donation slips to donors.
 Immediately corrects potential safety hazards at Secret Seconds property.
 Coordinates repairs and maintenance to Secret Seconds truck.
 Maintains accurate records of all furniture pickups, including names and addresses of donors, and all YWCA
truck maintenance.
 Coordinates truck loading and trips to dispose of below-standard merchandise to the landfill.
 Performs other duties as assigned.
 Physical effort may be required to do the following: sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching,
lifting merchandise up to 40 pounds, transporting supplies.
 Exposure to difficult situations, emotionally taxing customers and physical aggression may be encountered.
GENERAL DUTIES
 Projects a positive image of the YWCA, using effective public relations skills.
 Adheres to YWCA policies and guidelines.
 Acts as a responsible team member.
 Exhibits friendliness toward and consideration of donors, clients, employees, volunteers and the general public.
 In general, demonstrates energy and enthusiasm for work.
 Displays an awareness of and ability to deal with diversity among people, including disabilities among clients.
 Alerts Secret Seconds Mangers or Assistant Managers, and others as appropriate, to areas of concern.
 Displays a neat appearance and competent manner
REPORTS to:
 This position reports to the Secret Seconds Managers and has frequent contact with other Secret Seconds
staff, customers and donors. There is a possibility of occasional contact with YWCA clients and vendors. The
person in this position has a moderate level of independence and flexibility. Performs all job functions with
minimal supervision. Significant errors in judgment may endanger the health and safety of the clients and/or
staff and may cause serious financial and/or legal repercussions for the YWCA.
