3. Matters Arising:
Nothing raised.
4. Agenda:
a. Help at home Presentation:
Annette (Home care network) and Wesley(Community Navigation Service) were
welcomed to the meeting.
Help at Home: Is a free service to help people in their own homes, attempting to avoid
hospital admission, or to help people on return from hospital. Also with one off tasks to
mentain independence at home. An example was given of an elderly gentlemen who lived
by himself who was reluctant to go into hospital at the request of his doctor. With the help
of introducing a volunteer, hospital admission was avoided as help with shopping and
central tasks was given. A further example was given where a lady was helped by a
volunteer to put up a curtain rail in the absence of the daughter.
The whole service is provided by volunteers funded by grants from various sources. Any task
within the home can be attempted. Help with short term requests, but long term help may
be sometimes offered. Can be signposted to other services such as the Community
Navigation, so both can work together. Self referral, from doctor or together with relatives.
All volunteers are police checked and scrutinized. Not a 24hr service. Referral between the
hrs of 10-4pm. But volunteers can help at night if pre-planned.
Community Navigation: Wesley stated that it was his job to recruit volunteers and to send
them to meet the referrals in a public place, and generally to find services to help, such as
within the home. Project has been running for approx 2 years with a lot of success. Provides
information so that people can have a certain degree of independence.
Discussion ensued: A Community Navigator is presently situated in Teversham. A key
telephone number to contact in the first instance who will find the nearest volunteer.
Isolation and loneliness appears to raise its head on many occasions.
Seen as a role for someone who will be giving something back to the community.
Suggested that information on this service should be given to Residential Homes.
At the end of the presentation leaflets were left for distribution.
b. Ida Darwin re- development
The meeting was made aware the Development Brief had been approved but the Outline
Planning Application had been refused. Nothing further has been heard concerning what
the Trust wish to do next. Details of future plans will have to be discussed more closely with
the people it concerns. This was one of the reasons it was turned down. Also the lack of
community provision.
As a side line the proposals for future development along Teversham road was mentioned.
c. CATCH
The procurement bids are now in and the assessment for scoring and marking is taking place
throughout August, until a decision is made on the contract sometime in September.
Contract will be for 5 yrs and then reviewed. Transfer of staff to the new provider will be a
major exercise. It was mentioned as a matter of interest that people wanted a free service
at the point of entry to the NHS, and historically this is why it was set up in the first place.
d. CATCH Patient Reference Group
Christine reported that the group had been experiencing difficulties in finding a chair/vice
chairman.Heavy workload and at times with a very technical agenda. Group was found to be
very important as to its input.
Recently discussed the re-allocation of the Winter Fuel Payment.
The contract for111, which goes out also in September, and the new service will start in
April.
Presentation by Chief Pharmacist.
Concerns over underfunding of Mental Health.
Jane will attend these meetings when Christina is otherwise engaged.
e. Health Centre
Future plans for the Health Centre it was thought would now go alongside the redevelopment of the Ida Darwin and other issues.
The visit by the CQC is impending.
f. Fulbourn Day Centre
As of the August 2014 the present Trust will become friends of Fulbourn Day Centre and
the Carers Trust will be taking over. Still need referrals. Thinking about introducing a 3 day
week.
Discussion took place on the cost of different Day Centre’s in the area, but Jane gave an
explanation as to their varied criteria for attendance. It was mentioned that the £32 for
attending the Fulbourn Day Centre was high and perhaps curtailing people from attending.

g. Feet Focus
Going really well. A further clinic will be introduced to accommodate demand as the service
is going to expand.
h. Online Patient Records
Proposals for records to be viewed online. Hopefully to be up and running over the next two
weeks. Patients will be able to go onto the present web site. Permission will firstly be
granted, because not all patients would be seen as suitable to use this service. Firstly the
requests will go through to Russell who will forward to the patients G.P.
It was emphasized that anyone can request to see their own notes without going online. A
suitable day and venue at the Health Centre can be arranged.
i. Group for Carers
Gilly reported that the response to the formation of the group had been poor.
The holding of the eventual group was found to be unsuitable in the Health Centre, but the
Six Bells in Fulbourn has offered to provide a place, opening up at 11am and to provide
coffee. It was noted that there was no disabled toilet on the premises.
Brenda mentioned that every month on a Wednesday a group called “Still Caring” is in
existence at the Six Bells and caters for carers whose partners have Dementia. Partner does
not attend with carer as it is seen as a relief from pressure.
Ideas were discussed at the meeting as to how to recognize those in a carers role.
