Action Contre la Faim (ACF) is an International Non-Governmental Organization that is charitable, impartial, nonpolitical, independent and non-profit making, with headquarter in Paris, France. ACF has humanitarian programs in
more than 36 countries, assisting victims of war and famine. In Sierra Leone ACF was established in 1991. ACF
overall objective in these contexts is to fight against hunger and this is achieved through the implementation of
nutrition, health, food security and water & sanitation projects. Emergency relief responses to immediate needs are
usually followed by longer-term activities aiming to enable affected populations to regain their self-sufficiency.
ACF is implementing programmes with support from the following donors: UK AID (DfID), Irish Aid, UNICEF,
ECHO, SDC, ASI, AFD
ACF is seeking motivated and dynamic candidates for the following positions:
POSITION: Nutrition Trainer CMAM
START DATE: 2nd January 2014
SALARY: Technician Level 3 (Le 1,506,260)Basic salary
DURATION OF CONTRACT: 12 month
LOCATION: Moyamba District
NUMBER OF POSITIONS : 3
PROBATION PERIOD- 3 months
SUPERVISED BY : Deputy Nutrition Program Manager
Job Objective Assignment: Support the DHMT in the management and treatment of acute malnutrition in the In
and Outpatient Therapeutic Programs (SC and OTP) following the CMAM/IMAM
Means: General means: colleagues’ job descriptions, planning, office, Access to a computer, transport means
Specific stationary, specific protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Objective 1: Develop the capacity of the Health staff to manage CMAM activities
Activity:
 Participate in organising training on CMAM/IMAM together with your line manager
 Organise a schedule with the team to visit and support the health staff in OTP and SC
 Follow the CMAM/IMAM national protocol
 Organise on the job training and supervision of health staff regarding CMAM activities
 Use adequate nutrition tools for the program
 Promote strong linkages between the nutrition program and other existing health programs
 Use adequate IEC material (respect national standards, local language etc.) and use it properly
 Follow the effective management of beneficiaries during the visit ;
 Participate and follow the consumption and request report ;
Objective 2: Support DHMT to manage and supervise the nutrition centres (OTP and SC): joint activities
and monitoring
Activities:
 Follow and respect the current protocols: ensure medical and nutritional supervision of patients
 Add the activities linked to care practices in the protocols;
 Follow up the treatment of the beneficiaries during visits at home;
 Supervise the follow-up of orders and consumption,
 Supervise the management of the pharmacy: systematic treatment, therapeutic food and NFI items





Compile the statistical data and draft a report on activities.
Organize joint monitoring together with DHMT, identify the weaknesses of the SC and OTP and draft
recommendation for training
Adapt training material according to the identified needs with DHMT members
Plan trainings, refresher trainings according to the weaknesses
Supervises on Job trainings and refresher trainings

Objective 3: Develop a psychosocial approach and incorporate Care Practices for the prevention and
treatment of malnutrition:
Activities:
 Integrate the psychological dimension and maternal care in the comprehension of malnutrition;
 Identify the psychosocial needs that are not covered and make recommendations;
 Support and help with the development of new psychosocial activities when needed.
 To continue the integration of play sessions, improved appetite tests, health, hygiene and nutrition
education, Focused Group discussions and home visiting and cooking demonstrations into and in relation
to OTP/SC
 Support other ACF activities (FS and WASH) on understanding and the integration of the health and
nutrition education and care practices basics into their implementation
Objective 4: Data management, reporting and program
Development;
 Ensure proper recording of the information related to the implementation of the CMAM program in the
nutrition centers including care practices, appetite test, health and nutrition education and home-visiting
 Report on activities on a regular basis through APR format and
 updating the Deputy Nutrition Program Manager
 Participation of formulation of the ACF future operation in CMAM program activities
Objective 5: Represent the organization in relation with the
project to the local authorities and other partners:
Activities :
 ACF representation for CMAM activities in related forums and meetings
 Present the project to the various local partners ;
 Liaise with the authorities, committees and other beneficiaries
Diploma / Level of studies:
Nurse (diploma); CHO or Psychologist with a strong interest in nutrition; Degree in nutrition/related nutrition
studies
Required skills:
Training skills, ability to share expertise and build capacities;
Good capacity to work in a team
Good communication and relations with other people
Knowledge in nutrition, CMAM protocol, and IYCF policy is an asset.
Capacity to drive a motorbike (driving licence is compulsory)
Knowledge of English
Knowledge of languages spoken in the region
Report writing
