2015 FIRST RECONCILIATION/ FIRST COMMUNION
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
October 2014
Dear Parents and Guardians:
This letter is to inform you about the sacraments of First Reconciliation
and First Communion which will be held in St. Bernard Parish. Please
mark these important dates in your calendar.
PARENT INFORMATION MEETING:
at 7:00pm
Monday, January 19th, 2015
It is mandatory that at least one parent/guardian attends this
information meeting which will be held at St. Bernard Church. The
meeting will cover the most important aspects of the upcoming
celebrations and will be hosted by the Sacramental preparation team.
Your children are also welcome, as the meeting should be no longer
than 45 minutes.
SIGN UP: You will need to sign your child up for a particular mass at
which they will celebrate their First Holy Communion. The mass dates
and times for the First Reconciliation/First Communion are listed
below.
HOME WORKBOOK: To help you to prepare your child to receive
his/her sacraments, you are encouraged to purchase “We Share the
Eucharist”, an age-appropriate workbook, which will be available for a
cost of $15.00.
ENROLMENT CEREMONY:
The enrolment masses for your children will be held at St. Bernard
Church on the weekends of February 7th - 8th and 14th - 15th at the 5pm,
9am and 11am masses.
During the enrolment ceremony, the children will receive a blessing, a
special enrolment cross and will sign their names in the parish’s
enrolment book. There will be a small celebration after the mass with
cake, juice, coffee and tea. It is important for your child to attend this
special day. Since all enrolment masses are the same, your child can
attend any of the weekend masses.
FIRST RECONCILIATION
St. Bernard School:
Wednesday, March 4th at 7pm in St. Bernard
Church
St. Thomas More School:
Thursday, March 5th at 9:30am in the
school.
St. Marguerite D’Youville School:
Wednesday, March 11th at 7pm
in St. Bernard Church
BAPTISM
If your child has not been baptised but you would like her/him to receive
her/his sacraments next spring, we want to advise you that baptisms
are held the last Sunday of every month, with the exception of February
and March, during Lent. After January, any children, who need to be
baptised before celebrating their First Holy Communion, will have to
attend a 2-hour class which will be held on a Saturday (date to be
advised) during Lent to prepare for their Baptism on Easter Sunday,
April 5th, at 10am. To register your child for Baptism, please call the
parish office, 613-738-1943.
FIRST COMMUNION
The 2015 First Communion masses will be celebrated on the following
days in St. Bernard Church.
St. Bernard School: Sunday, April 12th, 2015 at 11:00am or 1:30pm
St. Thomas More School: Sunday, April 19th, 2015 at 11:00am or
1:30pm
St. Marguerite D’Youville School: Sunday, April 26th, 2015 at 11:00am
or 1:30pm

IMPORTANT:
Please find attached a Registration Form
which needs to be completed for all children who will be
receiving their sacraments in 2015. This form must be filled
out and returned to the parish with a copy of your child’s
Baptism certificate at the Parent Information Meeting on
January 19th, 2015.
Please call the parish office, 613-738-1943, if you need to change the
mass time and/or day selected for your child’s sacrament of First Holy
Communion.
Finally, we would like to welcome you to St. Bernard Parish and we
