Application for Associate Fellowship (Descriptor 1)
Associate Fellowship is awarded to individuals able to demonstrate success and
effectiveness in supporting student learning through their professional role which may,
but need not, include some teaching. Typically you will be a member of the professional
services staff or an entry level academic.

SECTION TWO: Demonstrating your track record
In Section Two you should provide examples of professional activity appropriate to your chosen level of fellowship, including,
for example: external service; course or programme development; involvement with university-­­wide committees and strategy
groups. You should also demonstrate your on-­­going commitment to professional development for yourself and others through
mentor and peer dialogue, through analysis of student/learner feedback, through attendance of developmental sessions; and
through reading and citation of literature relating to teaching and learning. Please see GOLD Guidance for Applicants for a list of
accessible readings.

SECTION THREE: Case-­­studies demonstrating success and effectiveness
Case-­­studies should be based around the ‘Typical activities’ for the fellowship level for which you’re applying.
For each of the TWO case-­­studies you select to demonstrate your performance of typical activities, you should:

Describe what you have been involved in doing and explain why this evidence is appropriate for a Fellowship application
at the level for which you’re applying;

Evaluate the success/effectiveness of the activity (this should entail a critical and reflective self-­­analysis);
-­
Provide evidence of good and sustained student and colleague/peer feedback on the success/effectiveness of the
activity;
-­
Provide evidence of engagement with the literature of teaching and learning (including citation) and any scholarly
activity/research associated with the activity (where appropriate).
