Believe Study Guide
Chapter 27: Kindness
Personal Study
Last week you examined the virtue of patience. Perhaps you were challenged to endure more
patiently under life’s hardships. This week before your group meeting, read Believe, Chapter
27: Kindness/Goodness. Then take some time to allow the Scripture to enter your mind and
prepare your heart ot receive the lessons God wants to teach you.
Memorizing Scripture is a valuable discipline for all believers to exercise. Spend a few minutes
each day committing this week’s Key Verses to memory.
Key Verse: Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do
what is good for each other and for everyone else. – 1 Thessalonians 5:15
Key Idea: When we know God and draw close to Him, we become people of kindness
and goodness.
Read - Note any verses or insights God gives you as you spend time with Him this week. The
more you reflect on God’s word and spend time with Him, the more it will impact your life!

Welcome!
If there are any new members in your group, take a moment to introduce yourselves to each
other before watching the video. Then, feel free to get started!
Getting Started
Begin your discussion by reciting the Key Verses and Key Idea together as a group. On your first
attempt, use your notes if you need help. On your second attempt, try to state them completely
from memory.
Key Verse: Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do
what is good for each other and for everyone else. – 1 Thessalonians 5:15
Key Idea: When we know God and draw close to Him, we become people of kindness

Group Discussion
LifeGroup Video Question –
1. What have you learned or what insight has God given you this week as you’ve spent
time with Him through your daily Bible reading, Believe reading and in prayer? What
was the most impactful thing you heard from Pastor Chuck in this weekend’s message?
2. Read Proverbs 3:3 and Proverbs 19:22. Describe what kindness means to you. What
characteristics are typical of a kind person?
Love Like Jesus
Read 1 Thessalonians 5:15. Share about a time when you experienced the repaying of a wrong
with a wrong. What was the outcome? In your experience, what happens when a person
shows kindness and love in spite of being wronged?
Intentional Intimacy
Read Ephesians 4:32. How do you think kindness is rooted and grows in Christ’s forgiveness?
Read Colossians 3:12-15. Why do you think both verses speak of forgiveness along with
kindness?
Fully Surrendered
In his message, Pastor Chuck uses Mark 5:21-34 to show that in the midst of the crowd, Jesus
took the time to stop and make the choice to show kindness and compassion. How easy or
challenging do you find it to take time to show kindness when you have a hectic schedule?
Why?
Experience More
In 2 Samuel 9:1-11, David shows kindness to a son of the former King while the custom of the
day would have called for him to be killed. Share about a time when you received kindness
from someone you didn’t expect. Who in your life could kindness make the world of difference
to?
Closing Prayer
Close your time together with prayer. Share your prayer requests with one another. Ask God to
help you put this week’s Key Idea into practice.
