East Food/Clothing Drive Benefitting Homeless Senior Citizens October 13th-27th, 2014 East Rm 107 & 108
East business & marketing students are sponsoring a drive to benefit the Denver Senior Support Services. This agency
serves over 400 seniors citizens daily. Food, clothing, and monetary donations can be dropped off during the day or at
Parent & Teacher Conferences. Partial list of accepted items: Packaged Food-(Small Individual size Snack Foods) Cup a Soup,
Granola Bars, Fruit Snacks, Trail Mix, Canned Food- (Prefer small individual size cans with flip up tops) Spam, Vienna Sausages (plain

Free Screening: I’m not a Racist…am I? October 21-28, 2014
Join us in putting students first by engaging in conversations across our DPS communities about the impacts of race in
our relationships. The evening will include a film screening and discussion. The screening is available at 5 DPS high
schools and Colorado History Museum. ** This event is a collaboration between Denver Public Schools , The Denver
Foundation, History Colorado Center, and Catherine Wigginton Greene (film director).**

This fair is "a health fair by veterans, for veterans and active duty military personnel." VFW Post 1 and the 9Health Fair
are hosting the 1st Veterans Family 9Health Fair 9Health Fair offering blood screenings as well as many other health
tests. The only cost to participants is for the 9Health Fair blood screenings. There will be 12 free screenings for adults /
7 free health screenings for kids, and all community resources will be free. Information:

Angels in the News
East Staff Member to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Jamiko Verner, new East Staff (Class of 2008), who will be among 25 athletes inducted into the East
Athletic Hall of Fame this Saturday, October 11, 2014. Jamiko was a member of the State Championship East basketball
team (2007 & 2008) and a member of the East Football team when they won All-City (2007) and All-State (2008).
