Janet H. Griswold (Undergraduate) Scholarship
Attention JCB High School Senior girls: The PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization) is offering
scholarships to high school senior girls for undergraduate student at a college of the recipient’s choice.
Scholarship details/criteria
 Awards vary from $800 to $1,200 depending on available funds
 Applicants should be in the upper half of their high school class.
 Selections are based on applicants’ academic records and financial need.
 Other criteria include citizenship, potential for success, and seriousness of purpose.
The deadline for submitting applications to the Oswego PEO Chapter is November 21, 2014. Finalists
will be contacted to schedule an interview with the committee in Oswego during the month of January.

Scholarships at Brockport
Honors Scholarship – If you apply to and are accepted into the Honors College, you will be awarded a full
tuition scholarship. This scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years. The Honors
Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshman only. Apply by March 15, 2015 at

University at Buffalo Scholarships
Honors College offers Presidential Scholarships, Provost Scholarship, Millonzi Distinguished Honors
Scholarship, School of Nursing Dean’s Scholar Awards, which are all based on eligibility – SAT/ACT

Cayuga Community College Scholarships
Cayuga Presidential Scholarships made possible by The Cayuga Community College Foundation. Fulltuition scholarships are available for Cayuga and Oswego County students who graduate in the top 20
percent of their high school class. Eligibility Criteria: First-time to college students* ranked in the top 20
percent of their high school class (based on academic performance) from Cayuga and Oswego counties.
Recipients must be full time and maintain a 3.0 GPA each year to remain eligible. *Other conditions

SUNY Oswego’s Merit Scholarships
More than $4 million in Merit Scholarships will be awarded to SUNY Oswego students this fall.
Applicants must have a B+ average, 1100 SAT (combined critical reading and math) or a 24 ACT.
Additional details
 Presidential Scholarships: $4,700 per year, renewable each year for 4 years –award is less if
living off campus
 Deans Scholarships: $1,500 per year, renewable each year for 4 years
 Merit Scholarships: $750 per year, renewable each year for 4 years

NYS STEM Incentive Program
This program provides a full SUNY or CUNY tuition scholarship for the top 10 percent of students in each
New York State high school if they pursue a STEM degree in an associates or bachelor’s degree program
and agree to work in a STEM field in New York State for five years after graduation.
Eligibility:
 Be a NYS resident
 Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
 Be enrolled full time at a SUNY or CUNY college, including the statutory or contract colleges at
Cornell University and Alfred University, beginning with the fall term following his or her high
school graduation
 Be ranked in the top 10 percent of his/her high school graduating class of a NYS high school
 Be matriculated in an undergraduate program leading to a degree in Science, Technology,
Engineering or Mathematics at a SUNY or CUNY college
 Earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher each term after the first semester
 Execute a service contract agreeing to reside and work in NYS for five years in the field of
Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. View the terms and conditions of the service
contract
 Not be in default on a student loan made under any NYS or federal education loan program or
repayment of any state award
 Be in compliance with the terms of any service condition imposed by a state award
Students matriculated in the following programs of study may be eligible for a STEM award. The
program of study must result in an approved occupation.
Award Amounts
Recipients shall receive an annual award for full-time study equal to the annual tuition charged to NYS
resident students attending an undergraduate program at the State University of New York, or actual
tuition charged, whichever is less. The STEM award will be reduced by the amount of any other tuitiononly assistance award received.
Duration
Recipients shall be entitled to an annual award for not more than four academic years of full time
undergraduate study while matriculated in an approved program leading to a degree in Science,
Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or five years if the program of study requires five years.
How to Apply
Applications for the 2015-16 academic year will be available January 1, 2015. Recipients are not required
to submit another New York State Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Incentive Program
Web Supplement once they have been awarded this scholarship, but must complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the NYS Scholarship and Grant Payment Application
each year.
Apply for Payment (award recipients are required to do this each year)
STEM recipients must complete the FAFSA and the Payment of State Grants, Scholarships and Awards
Application each year to receive payment.
Payment of Awards: Awards will be paid directly to the schools on behalf of students upon the
successful completion of each term. Successful completion of a term means the applicant meets all of
the eligibility requirements for the award.

Edge Federal Credit Union Scholarship
In an effort to help further the education of our local high-school seniors, Edge Federal Credit Union is
participating in a statewide college scholarship program. Last year, this program awarded $29,500 in
scholarships to 39 students across New York.
High-school seniors who are members of our credit union and other participating credit unions across
the state are invited to apply for $500 or $1,000 scholarships to be used at two- or four-year accredited
educational institutions.
Eligibility
Students must be college-bound high-school seniors at the time of application, attending college for the
first time in the fall of 2015. They must also be members of a participating credit union. (Those who are
not currently credit union members can contact our credit union or visit www.asmarterchoice.org to
learn more about membership opportunities.)
Applicants will be judged based upon their academic achievements, extracurricular and community
activities and the quality of their written essay.

Temple University Summer Owls Leadership Experience
Temple University will hold its first Summer Owls Leadership Experience on campus for high school
sophomores and juniors from July 13 to August 2. Download a flyer for program information and posting
in your high school.
Students in the program will

choose one three-credit college course in business, media and communication, health
professions or science, taught by enthusiastic and knowledgeable Temple faculty.

live in a residence hall for three weeks and participate in programs outside the
classroom with other high school students in a safe and supervised program.
engage in leadership and college-preparation workshops.
explore Philadelphia through field trips and expeditions.
And here’s the best part: Participants who complete the college course in the Summer Owls Leadership
Experience successfully and later apply and are accepted to Temple will be eligible for a $4,000 ($1,000
