Minutes, Tuesday April 20 2015

1. Call to Order 7:00

3. Principles Report
a. Upcoming Events

Teddy Anderson – Hoop Dancer Performance – April 19 (done)

Math Family Night (Technology night) – April 22: there will be a
handout for parents that will go home with all students

Railway Safety Presentation – April 29

Pack-a-parent/hot lunch – April 30: if there is a strike on we might
need parents to set up tables and tear down after
-
K Welcome Evenings – May 4 and 5
-
School swimming – 8 sessions starting May 5 for Gr 3 & 5 – this
will be dependent on busses. If there is a strike this may have to
be postponed

PLC – Welcome to Kindergarten Program and transition plan:
there is one more PLC before these dates
d. Division Initiatives
Course Correction to focus on Reading – RtI will be co-teaching
reading with Grade One classes; will be re-evaluating what RtI will
look like for next year

Aimsweb Spring Benchmarking results – May 14 – June 5

Tell Them From Me (Gr 4 – 6) – just completed and waiting for
results, should have results by next meeting

SEIU – 48 hour notice for strike action

Staffing update: Kenton is going to WJHS, Jacqueline Neilmeyer
will be VP, Melissa planning a mat leave for October, Haig teacher
numbers will go up 0.2. Administrative assistant and librarian
time will decrease. EA time may decrease as 3 Intensive needs
students will be transitioning to WJHS

School supply purchase option for parents – SCC decided to look
at as an option for parents. There would be starter kits available
and add-ons available, supplies delivered to the school after
parents order online. Arlene will look at deadlines for school lists
and see if this is a viable option for our parents
4. Items for Discussion
a. Education Support Staff of SECPSD: how can Haig support our education support
staff? – discussed the impact on students and extra programming
b. Fundraising
i. SECPSD Employee Recognition Night May 21 2015

Chose 2 salads

Myrna will take care of all the meal work (serve, dishes, clean-up)
except table set-up

Lisa will check on fridge space and cans vs bottles

Krissy will do liquor license, pre-order alcohol, mix and cups
(maybe ice)

Should have a back-up sound system available; Arlene will check
into this

Cocktails/reception at 6:00, Dinner at 6:30

Lisa will send out a timetable for that day
c. Family Night Dance – Friday May 29, 6:00-8:00

Beach theme

Stations: dance area, snack, photo booth, limbo

Budget: will have a silver collection

Music options – Arlene will check with RAK pack for playlist
suggestions; the sound system in the gym will be adequate

Set-up after school May 29

School has prizes for spot dances

Bailey will check Dollarama for decorations/photo booth items
(there are items available in the drama collections as well)

Would like to open the meat raffle at the dance
d. Meat Fundraiser

Souris ran a 4 week raffle. Tickets $1 each or a book of 15 for $10.
Raffel for 4 x $100 gift certificates for meat from (co-op x 2,
maurers, western prime). Student prizes: top 2 sellers received
movie theatre gift certificates, sellers of the 4 raffle winners
received pool passes from Weyburn Leisure Center

Haig plan: run from May 29 through June 12 and draw at playday;
lottery license $5 from the city; Arlene will ask Clark about
tracking the $ from tickets; Lisa will check into meat packs; Amber
will check about pool passes and movie passes
