Code of Conduct policy:

Simply Play has a set of policies relating to bullying, harassment, use of drugs and alcohol and so on and all employees are expected to comply with these policies.

In addition, to reflect current good practice, the following should be observed by all employees as part of their employment while with Simply Play;

Employees should :

Protect the rights and promote the interests of service users

Treat each person as an individual

Respect and, where appropriate, promote the individual views and wishes of service users

Respecting and maintaining the dignity and privacy of service users

Respecting diversity and different cultures and values.

Strive to establish and maintain the trust and confidence of service users

Be honest and trustworthy

Communicate in an appropriate, open, accurate and straightforward way

Respect confidential information and clearly explain policies about confidentiality to service users

Being reliable and dependable

Honour work commitments, agreements and arrangements

Declare issues that might create conflicts of interest and making sure that they do not influence your judgement or practice

Adhere to policies and procedures about accepting gifts and money from service users

Promote the independence of service users while protecting them as far as possible from danger or harm

Promote the independence of service users and assisting them to understand their rights

Using established processes and procedures to challenge and report dangerous, abusive, discriminatory or exploitative behaviour and practice

Bringing to the attention of Simply Play resource or operational difficulties that might get in the way of the delivery of safe care

Informing Simply Play where the practice of colleagues may be unsafe or adversely affecting standards of care

Respect the rights of service users whilst seeking to ensure that their behaviour does not harm themselves or other people

Help service users identify and manage potential and actual risks to themselves and others

Taking necessary steps to minimise the risks of service users from doing actual or potential harm to themselves or other people

Ensuring that relevant colleagues and agencies are informed about the outcomes and implications of risk assessments

Uphold public trust and confidence in childcare services. In particular, you must not

Abuse the trust of service users or the access you have to personal information about them or to their property, home or workplace

Form inappropriate personal relationships with service users

Discriminate unlawfully or unjustifiably against service users or colleagues

Condone any unlawful or unjustifiable discrimination by service users or colleagues

Put yourself or other people at unnecessary risk

Behave in a way, in work or outside work, which would call into question your suitability to work in childcare services

Be accountable for the quality of their work and take responsibility for maintaining and improving their knowledge and skills .

Meet relevant standards of practice and work in a lawful, safe and effective way

Maintain clear and accurate records as required by procedures established for your work

Inform Simply Play about any personal difficulties that might affect your ability to do your job competently and safely

Seek assistance from Simply Play if you do not feel able or adequately prepared to carry out any aspect of your work, or you are not sure about how to proceed in a work matter

Work openly and co-operatively with colleagues and treat them with respect

Recognise that you remain responsible for the work that you have delegated to other employees

Recognise and respect the roles and expertise of employees from other agencies and work in partnership with them

Undertake relevant training to maintain and improve your knowledge and skills and contribute to the learning and development of others.

There should be proper and authorised use of Simply Play’s equipment, time and property.

Removal of Simply Play’s property from any premises without permission is not permitted.

All safety rules should be adhered to at all times and safety equipment should be used at all appropriate times.

Gambling on Simply Play premises is not permitted.

Employees will not bring sexually explicit material (pornographic) into the workplace or engage in inappropriate sexually explicit conversation within the workplace.

Employees will dress in a manner suitable for the workplace.

If these are codes of conduct are disregarded, then employees may be subject to Simply Play’s disciplinary process.

1. DRESS CODE

All Staff employed by Simply Play are required to present a professional appearance to service users, visitors and colleagues whether provided with uniform or wearing their own clothes.

This applies to all employees irrespective of race, colour, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age, trade union membership and activity

Whilst Simply Play recognises the diversity of cultures, religions and disabilities of its employees and will take a sensitive approach when this affects dress and uniform requirements, priority will be given to Health and Safety and security considerations.

All employees will be treated in a fair and equitable manner recognising any special needs of individuals where adjustment may need to be made.
