Managing Director
Nationwide Services (NWS) recognises that the long-term future of the Company is best served by
aligning our operations with the interests of our stakeholders. This policy brings benefits to our
community, employees, the environment and our Customers. It also leads to improved financial
performance for the business. Our CSR policy is administered by the Commercial Director who
monitors progress and reports to the full Executive Committee.
1. Community
NWS is committed to investing time and resource to develop awareness within the community of
the impact of wasted resource. We believe one of the most effective groups to target is children, so
our efforts are geared towards school projects.
2. The Workplace
We recognise the importance of our employees in making our business a success. We are
committed to providing a safe and rewarding environment for all our employees. We aim to do this
via the following policies and actions:
a. Health & Safety Policy
We acknowledge that all our employees are entitled to work in a safe environment. We have a
Health and Safety Officer who is responsible for ensuring that we comply with all legislation, and
implement best practice procedures. Appendix A contains a full copy of our latest policy.
b. External Accreditations
In response to both our Customers’ requirements and our own recognition that an independent
audit of our Health and Safety systems and procedures is required to ensure best practice, we have
undertaken accreditation by Safecontractor. Appendix B shows a copy of our certificate.
c. Flexible Working
NWS offers a range of flexible working arrangements including staggered hours, part-time positions
and working from home (limited role specific opportunities).
d. Training & Development
We run a formal Performance Development Review system (PDR) that is used to identify and
monitor employee aspirations and training requirements. We have also provided financial and
workplace assistance to employees wishing to pursue external qualifications, such as degree level
courses in management, and professional qualifications within the area of Human Resources.
e. Equality & Diversity Policy
NWS is committed to achieving a working environment which provides equality of opportunity and
freedom from unlawful discrimination on the grounds of race, sex, pregnancy and maternity, marital
or civil partnership status, gender reassignment, disability, religion or beliefs, age or sexual
orientation. This policy aims to remove and avoid unfair and discriminatory practices within the
Company and to encourage full contribution from its diverse community. The Company is
committed to actively opposing all forms of discrimination.
The Company also aims to provide a service that does not discriminate against its clients and
Customers in the means by which they can access the services and goods supplied by the
Company. The Company believes that all employees and clients are entitled to be treated

with respect and dignity.
Please see Appendix C for full policy.
3. Environment
The Environmental Policy of NWS is to ensure, so far as it is reasonably practicable, that its
operations will be carried out with a commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment.
The Management of the Company recognises that both our activities, and those of our supply chain,
have an environmental impact and, in developing our policies, we seek to confirm our commitment
to manage environmental issues properly. We have a full Environmental Policy that is shown in
Appendix D
4. Corporate Governance
We are committed to the practice of responsible corporate behaviour and compliance with all laws,
regulations and other requirements which govern the conduct of our operations.
The Company is fully committed to instilling a strong anti-corruption culture and is fully committed
to compliance with all anti-bribery and anti-corruption legislation including, but not limited to, the
Bribery Act 2010 and ensures that no bribes or other corrupt payments, inducements or similar are
made, offered, sought or obtained by us or anyone working on our behalf. A full copy of our AntiBribery policy is attached as Appendix D.
The Company operates under a set of published delegated authority limits and all major investment
and strategic decisions are openly discussed at Board Level. Due consideration is given to Corporate
Social Responsibility in all decisions taken.
5. Customers
We aim to provide our Customers with accurate up to date information on the way their waste
streams are disposed of, and the percentage of materials that are recycled. We aim to partner with
our major Customers in order that we may work jointly to lessen the amount of waste being sent to
landfill. We continually strive to select subcontractors that deliver best practice in this area and
ensure that, after they have completed a pre-qualification questionnaire, we visit their sites to audit
both processes and paperwork.
2014 Progress
1. Community
a. Brune Park School
NWS sponsored a prize and judged an Environmental Poster Campaign (over 64 entries). The
winning entry was then displayed throughout the school, as well as within NWS offices.

Managing Director
We designed a presentation to raise environmental awareness of the Brune Park pupils. The
presentation was delivered by staff to over 1,400 Pupils.
NWS volunteers worked with the staff and children to set up a waste collection service and picking
line to ensure that all waste arising at the summer festival was collected, sorted and correctly
disposed of. In prior years, mixed waste, including recyclables, had been disposed of as general
waste.
b. Bay House School
NWS supplied lighting towers and undercover lighting for a Christmas Truce Centenary Carol Service
and football game. NWS provided, installed and removed 3 lighting towers to provide illumination
for the outdoor activities, as well as festoon lighting for the covered areas.
c. Gosport Cub Scouts
NWS provided a meeting room and interlinked 12 PCs to allow 21 cubs to conduct research into one
of their group who was killed whilst on Active Service during World War 1. This was part of their
WW1 Centenary Badge.
2. Workplace
Staff received 2 specifically designed training courses covering Customer Service skills and specialist
waste. The intent of these programmes was to enable a higher quality, more informed service to be
delivered to our Customers whilst raising NWS’ staff and our Customers’ understanding of how
specialist waste should be handled and disposed of safely.
We appointed a Health and Wellbeing Champion in the business who, over the course of the year,
ran three very popular and successful programmes; a British Heart Foundation Healthy Start
Program, a UK Athletics running program and kayaking lessons.
We continue to encourage our staff to volunteer and this year approximately 20% of our employees
worked in company time on community projects.
We issued all employees with a monthly update on developments within the Company. In addition,
during 2014, our Managing Director gave a presentation to all staff, in groups of no more than 3
employees. This presentation covered the current year’s performance, explained our future strategy
as well as our CSR policy and recent achievements.
3. Environment
Retained Full Scope ISO 14001 accreditation.
Introduction of motion controlled lighting in the staff welfare areas.
Introduction of a Cycle to Work scheme with an initial take up rate of approximately 16%.
We removed desk top printers and introduced centralised Multi-Functional Devices that reduced
paper and toner consumption by 55%.

Managing Director
The continued careful route planning for our Business Development Managers’ Customer visits, in
conjunction with the on-going replacement of company cars with more efficient vehicles, has
resulted in a reduction of 15% of CO² emissions per million GBP of turnover compared against 2013.
2015 Future Plans
1. Community
We will be working with the children and staff at Brune Park School to build a sensory garden. This
project will re-use discarded materials wherever possible, and employees from NWS will be actively
involved in the build stage via our volunteering program.
A team from NWS will be undertaking the “Three Peaks Challenge” in the summer. We have set
ourselves an internal fundraising target of £5,000. The proceeds of this fundraising will be donated
to the charity Naomi House & Jacksplace, a hospice for children and young people.
2. Workplace
Ensure 100% of our employees receive training to increase their skill base.
As part of a restructure within the Operational department of the Company, Team Leader positions
will become available and be advertised internally. This will enable improved assistance of the
Operational Management Team. To support both Managers and appointed Team Leaders with this
reorganisation, a Leadership Training Program will be introduced, in the form of workshops,
delivered by an external training company. This restructure will also provide improved development
and promotion prospects for our Customer Service Administrators.
3. Environment
Retain ISO 14001 accreditation.
Carry out feasibility study on LED office lighting.
Introduce new company car policy to lower fleet emissions.
Utilise supplier maps to select the nearest suitable supplier so that CO2 emissions are minimised.
Continue to reduce paper and toner usage.
