授業の目標 Course Objectives
MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) is an emerging technology that is used in many technical fields such as IT technology, sensor
technology, etc. In recent years, MEMS technology has been increasingly applied for the medical and biochemical fields, known as bioMEMS. The
aim of this course is to provide basic knowledge of bioMEMS technology together with applications such as protein assay, cell assay, etc. The aim
of this course is also to improve presentation skills by introducing the latest papers by utilizing knowledge and way of thinking to be obtained.

To acquire basic knowledge of bioMEMS technology together with applications such as protein assay, cell assay, etc. and to deepen the
understanding towards novel applications of bioMEMS.

Lecture 1: Overview of bioMEMS Engineering (1 time)
Definition and history of bioMEMS Engineering
Lecture 2: Fundamental knowledge of bioMEMS Engineering (2 times)
Fundamental knowledge: Microphysics, Process technology, Device technology
Lecture 3: Microfluidics, Lab on a Chip (3 times)
Trends and recent studies in bioMEMS applications: Protein assays, Cell assays
Lecture 4: Presentation of recent researches (2 times)
Presentation by introducing the latest papers

It is desired to acquire fundamental knowledge of MEMS Engineering before the course starts.
成績評価の基準と方法 Grading System
Evaluation is based on class participation (50%), assignments including a final presentation (40%) and discussion (10%) during the course.
