Apple Tart
Ingredients
6 Small cooking apples
2 tbls of sugar
2 rolls of short crust frozen pastry
Milk
Equipment
2 chopping boards

Pastry brush
Method
1. Preheat oven 150oc
2. Defrost short crust pastry
3. Peel apples and slice
4. Put apples into saucepan and stew
5. Put grease proof paper into baking dish
6. Line the bottom of the baking tray with short
crust pastry
7. Add apples
8. Put layer of short crust on top of apples
9. Pierce pastry with fork
10.
Coat with a layer of milk
11.
Cook for 30 minutes
12.
Serve with custard or ice cream

Beans on toast

Method
1. Open the tins of beans.
2. Pour into saucepan.
3. Use spoon to clear beans from
the bottom of the tin.
4. Turn on the hob.
5. Turn on the ring to number 4.
6. Place saucepan on the ring making sure that
the handle is turned in.
7. Stir beans occasionally.
8. Place 2 Slices of bread in toaster. Turn on.
9. When toast pops, remove from the toaster
and butter.
10.
Continue making toast to each pupil has
some.
11.
When beans are hot, place spoonful’s on
top of the toast. 12 serve.
Boiled Eggs & Toast

Method
1. Turn on cooker
2. Put egg in saucepan
3. Add cold water – cover the egg
4. When egg begins to boil check time.
5. Boil for 4 minutes
6. Place bread in toaster
7. When toasted spread butter on it.
8. After 4 minutes remove egg from water using
large spoon
9. Place in egg cup.
10.
Remove top from egg and serve

Method
1. Peel and chop the onion finely
2. Whisk the egg
3. Put the mince, onion and egg
into a big bowl
4. Add salt and pepper
5. Mix all the ingredients in the bowl
6. Divide mixture into 6 even amounts
7. Roll each amount into a ball
8. Press down to make a burger shape
9. Put a little oil on the frying pan
10. Heat the pan and when hot put on the
burgers
11. Flip the burgers a few times until they are
cooked right through.

Carrot Cakes
Ingredients
125g carrots
100g sugar
75g margarine
100g plain flour
1tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
1 large egg
60g sultanas

Wooden spoon
Potato peeler
2 dessert spoons
Method
1. Turn oven to 180 degrees
2. Cut ends of carrots, peel and grate into large
bowl.
3. Add sugar and margarine and mix together
4. Sieve together flour and baking powder and
add to mixture.
5. Stir well.
6. Add the cinnamon and stir
7. Add beaten egg.
8. Mix well together and add sultanas stirring
continuously.
9. Put bun cases in bun tin.
10.
Gently add mixture to cases using 2
large spoons.
11.
Place in oven for 15 – 20 minutes.
Cheesy Shepherd’s Pie
Ingredients
Mince
Onion
Potatoes
Carrot
Bisto granules
Grated cheese

Potato masher
Measuring jug
Teaspoon
Method
1. Peel potatoes and cut into small pieces
2. Put in saucepan and add boiling water
3. Peel carrot and chop
4. peel and chop onion into small pieces
5. Place mince in saucepan.. Add water, onion
and carrot. Mix together and stir often.
6. When mince has browned, cover with a lid.
Allow to cook until carrots soft.
7. Make gravy by putting 4 heaped teaspoonful’s
of bisto granules.
8. Add half a pint of boiling water and stir.
9. Pour gravy into mince and stir
10.
Pour mince and gravy into pie dish
11.
When potatoes are soft, drain into sieve.
12.
return to saucepan and allow to dry off.
Mash.
13.
Add mash to top of mince. Spread evenly
and sprinkle with grated cheese.
14.
Place in oven at 200 degrees for about
15 mins.
Chicken & Broccoli Bake
Ingredients
Pack of chicken breast
200g broccoli
350g pasta
Carton of single cream
80g soft cheese with herbs and garlic
Hard cheese for grating
4 tbsp Sundried tomato puree peppers

Large saucepan
Large frying pan
Colander
Large shallow ovenproof dish
Method
1. Boil kettle of water. Add to saucepan with
small amount of salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
2. Chop chicken into small pieces and fry in hot
oil until light brown. Add peppers and cook
for 1 minute.
3. Wash and chop broccoli finely. Add to pasta
and cook for 5 minutes.
4. Add sundried tomato paste to chicken
mixture, add soft cheese and cream. Cook
until sauce thickens.
5. Drain pasta and return to saucepan.
6. Pour chicken mix onto pasta and mix well.
7. Put into ovenproof dish and level out.
8. Top with grated cheese.
9. Place in oven at 190 degrees for 20 minutes.
10.
Serve & eat.
Chicken Curry & Rice
Ingredients
2 chicken breasts
1 onion
Rice
Jar of Curry sauce
Salt to taste

Method
1. Peel and chop onion
2. chop chicken into small pieces
3. add small amount of oil to saucepan
and heat.
4. Add onion and cook for 3-4 mins
5. Add chicken and cook until it turns white.
6. Add jar of sauce and stir.
7. Fill saucepan with boiling water.
8. Add salt to taste
9. Add rice to boiling water.
10.Stir and cook for 15 minutes.
11. Drain rice into sieve.
12. Rinse with boiling water.
13. Serve.
14. Wash up dishes.
Chicken Fajitas
Ingredients

Method
1. Peel and chop onion
2. Add small amount of oil to pan and
heat.
3. Fry chicken.
4. Add onion and cook until soft.
5. Add the peppers
6. Sprinkle a small amount of fajita mix over
cooking ingredients.
7. When mixture almost ready, add salsa.
8. Warm tortillas in oven.
9. Serve.
Chicken Fried Rice
Ingredients
2 Chicken Breasts
1 large onion
2 cloves of garlic
2 pkts Batchelors Savoury rice

Method
1. Boil a saucepan of hot water and
add rice, following packet instructions.
2. Chop chicken into small pieces.
3. Chop onion and crush garlic.
4. Fry onion lightly and add garlic.
5. Add diced chicken and cook until slightly
browned.
6. Remove rice from cooker and drain in
colander.
7. Add drained rice to chicken in pan and fry
lightly.
8. Serve.
Chicken Risotto
Ingredients
3 Chicken breasts
Handful Mixed peppers
1 Onion
4 large Mushrooms
2 Chicken stock cubes
Fajita Mix
350g Arborio rice
Oil

Large pan or frying pan

Method
1. Wash and chop mushrooms
2. Peel and chop onion
3. Chop chicken
4. Place 2 stock cubes into 2 pints boiling water
5. Add a small amount of oil to pan.
6. Add onion and cook until soft.
7. Add Chicken and cook until brown.
8. Add fajita mix and stir.
Chicken Stirfry
Ingredients
2 chicken breasts
1 bag of stirfry vegetables
Handful of frozen peppers
4 cloves of garlic
Soy sauce
Pinch of chilli

Sharp knife
Garlic press
Wooden spoon
Method
1. Peel garlic
2. Chop the chicken into small pieces
3. Add a little oil to wok and turn on.
4. Add chicken to wok when hot.
5. Squeeze garlic onto chicken and stir.
6. When chicken is cooked add vegetables and
chilli.
7. Stir.
8. Add soy sauce and cook for 2-3 mins.
9. Serve
Chilli Con Carne
Ingredients
1 Onion
500g Mince
Pasta
1 tin red kidney beans
Chilli flakes
300 g rice
Salt and pepper to taste
Oil

Method
1. Fry the onions lightly
2. Add the mince and stir.
3. put the rice on to boil
4. Add in the pasta and the kidney beans
5. Allow to cook
Chilli Nachos
Ingredients
Kidney beans
Tortilla crisps
Grated cheese
Mince
Chilli Con carne sauce
Equipment

Wooden spoon
Method
1. Put a little cold water into saucepan.
2. Turn on cooker hob
3. Add meat to saucepan and place on
cooker.
4. Use wooden spoon to stir meat until
it turns brown.
5. Add jar of sauce and stir
6. Add kidney beans and allow to cook
7. Put tortilla crisps into bowl
8. Put cheese into bowl.
9. Keep stirring meat mixture.
10.
Serve mince mixture into bowls, sprinkle
with grated cheese and eat with crisps and
spoon.
French Toast
Ingredients
Eggs

Method
1. Crack the eggs into the bowl
2. Whisk the eggs
3. Cut the slices of bread into 2.
4. Dip bread into egg
5. Heat the frying pan
6. Pour a small amount of oil onto pan
7. Place eggy bread onto pan.
8. Check colour of toast and turn when
light brown
9. When second side is brown remove from pan
and serve.
10.
Dust with salt & pepper or sugar to
taste.
Lasagne and home-made chunky chips
Ingredients
Lasagne sheets
1.5 kg minced steak
50g cheddar cheese
1 onion
1 jar of dolmio sauce
1 jar of white sauce
8 small potatoes
Fry lite
Equiptment
1 large casserole dish
1 wooden spoon
1 vegetable peeler
1 vegetable knife
1 frying pan
Baking tray
Fish slice
Grater
Plate
Method
1. Switch oven at the mains and turn the knob
to 180C
2. Peel potatoes using a vegetable peeler
3. Cut the potatoes into chunks using a
vegetable knife
4. Place the chips onto the baking tray
5. Put the baking tray in the oven for 40
minutes (spread the chips evenly and make
sure you wear oven gloves!)
6. Peel and finely dice the onion using a
vegetable knife
7. Grate the cheese onto a plate using a grater
8. Turn on the hob to number 4
9. Put a tablespoon of oil into the frying pan and
heat for 2 minutes
10.
Put the mince into the frying pan and
cook until the mince is brown the whole way
through
11.
Add the onion to the frying pan with the
mince and cook until soft
12.
Check potatoes in the oven and
turn them over using the fish slice
13.
Add the jar of dolmio sauce
and stir
14.
Turn the knob to number 2
15.
Leave the pan to simmer for
5 minutes
16.
Put the pasta sheets along
the bottom of the casserole dish
17.
Spoon the mixture from the
frying pan on top of the pasta sheets
18.
Add another layer of lasagne
sheets and spoon on the white sauce
19.
Sprinkle the lasagne with cheese
20.
Place the casserole dish into the
oven using oven gloves and cook for 20-25
minutes
Leek and Potato Soup
Ingredients
Potatoes
Leeks
Onion
Vegetables stock cubes
Salt & pepper to taste

Large saucepan

Potato peeler
Wooden spoon
Method
1. Open leeks and wash until all dirt is
removed.
2. Wash and peel potatoes
3. Peel onion and chop
4. Cut leeks into small pieces
5. Cut potatoes into chunks
6. Saute onion in small amount of cooking oil
7. Place 3 stock cubes into jug, add boiling
water and stir.
8. When onion is soft, add leeks and potatoes to
saucepan.
9. Pour in vegetable stock and stir.
10.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
11.
Bring soup to boil, turn down and simmer
until all vegetables are cooked.
12.
Remove from heat and blend soup. Serve
while hot.
Meat balls in Tomato Sauce
Ingredients
1 onion
500g mince
Mixed herbs
1 egg
1 packet pasta
Equipment
Sharp knife
Chopping board
Bowl
Wooden spoon
Shallow ovenproof dish
Scissors
Method
1. Peel and chop onion into small pieces.
2. Place meat, chopped onion and mixed
herbs in a bowl.
3. Mix together with wooden spoon.
4. Add egg to mixture and mix well.
5. Divide mixture into 8 equal portions.
6. Roll each portion into ball and place into
ovenproof dish.
7. Pour pasta over meatballs
8. Bake in oven for 40 minutes
9. Serve and enjoy
Prawn and Pasta bake
Ingredients
250g pasta
Chopped parsley
300g prawns
Half tsp. mixed herbs
200ml natural yoghurt

Ovenproof dish
Method
1.
Turn oven on to 180 degrees
2. Boil kettle and pour water into saucepan.
3. Add a small amount of salt to taste.
4. Add pasta and cook for 10-12 mins.
5. Chop parsley and put in bowl
6. Add mixed herbs, and prawns.
7. Pour in yoghurt and stir
8. When pasta cooked drain and add to bowl.
9. Mix together and add to ovenproof dish.
10. Place in oven for 30 minutes
11. Serve
Quick Chicken Masala
Ingredients
2 chicken breasts
1 onion
1 carrot
1 tin of tomatoes
1 jar of tikka masala sauce
1 small tub of Greek yoghurt
Packet of rice
Pinch of salt

Sharp knives
Stirring spoons
Sieve

Method
1.
Weigh rice, put it in sieve and rinse well
with cold water.
2. Put boiling water and salt into saucepan and
add rice.
3. Boil for 15 minutes until tender, stirring
every few minutes.
4. Chop chicken into small cubes.
5. Peel and slice onion, finely.
6. Fry chicken cubes in wok until white
7. Add tikka masala sauce and cook 3-4
minutes.
8. Add onions and carrots and cook for
another 3-4 minutes.
9. Add tomatoes and cook for another 3-4
minutes.
10. Add Greek yoghurt and warm for 1 minute.
11. Drain rice and rinse with boiling water.
12. Serve the chicken tikka masala with rice.
Roasted Ratatouille
Ingredients
Courgettes
Aubergine
Onion
Peppers
Mixed herbs
Black pepper
Coriander powder
Tinned chopped tomatoes
Oil

Ovenproof dish
Tin opener
Method
1.
Peel and chop onion into chunks
2. Wash aubergine, courgettes,& peppers &
pat dry
3. Peel courgette and cut into thick slices,
then chunks
4. Slice aubergine thickly and cut into chunks
5. Cut top of pepper and remove the entire
inside.
6. Cut into chunks.
7. Turn oven on to 180 degrees
8. Put oil into ovenproof dish
9. Add all vegetables to dish, add black
pepper, mixed herbs and coriander. Stir
well.
10. Place in oven for 15 minutes
11. Add chopped tomatoes and stir well.
12. Cover dish with tinfoil and put back in oven
for 20 minutes.
Scrambled Eggs on Toast

Method
1.
Wash and dry hands
2. Put on aprons
3. Collect ingredients
4. Collect utensils
5. Break eggs into bowl making sure that
there is no shells in bowl
6. Whisk eggs
7. Add milk
8. Add salt and pepper
9. Melt butter in saucepan
10. Pour mixture into saucepan
11. Stir using wooden spoon making sure that
mixture doesn’t stick.
12. Adjust heat if sticking
13. Make toast
14. Serve when ready
Soda Bread Pizza
Ingredients
Ham
Grated cheese
Soda Bread

Method
1.
Using sharp knife slice soda bread
into
2. Spread tomato puree onto slices
of bread.
3. Sprinkle grated cheese on top of puree
4. Chop ham into small pieces
5. Place ham onto cheese layer.
6. Add sprinkle of mixed herbs
7. Add sweet corn
8. Place on grill pan
9. Put under grill until bread is toasted and
cheese melts.
Spaghetti Bolognese
Ingredients
1 Onion
2 cloves Garlic
500g Mince
Squeeze Tomato Puree
1 Tinned of Tomato’s
Sprinkle mixed herbs
¾ packet Spaghetti
Salt to taste
Oil
Equipment

Chopping board
2 saucepans with lids
Sharp knife
Wooden spoon
Kettle
Method
1.
Peel and chop onion
2. Peel and chop garlic
3. Put mince in saucepan
4. Cook until brown
5. Add chopped onion
6. Add garlic and stir well.
7. Add mixed herbs
8. Add tinned tomatoes and stir
9. Add tomato puree and stir
10. Cover with a lid.
11. Pour boiling water from kettle into
saucepan.
12. Add pinch salt and drop of oil.
13. Place spaghetti into boiling water.
14. Push spaghetti down into water until it is
covered.
15. Stir often to prevent sticking
16. When pasta is cooked drain into colander.
17. Serve and eat.
Tip Top Tuna Tarts
Ingredients
2 tins of tuna
2 Scallions
A Tin Sweet corn
2 heaped large spoonful’s Mayonnaise
Thick sliced bread
Equipment
Wooden spoon
Tin opener
Sharp knife
Pastry cutter
Chopping boards
Bowl
Bun trays
Sieve
Method
1.
Wash and chop scallions
2.
Open tins of tuna and put in bowl
3.
Open sweet corn
4.
Cut circles from bread using pastry cutter
5.
Place in bun tins and press down
6.
Place in oven at 18o degrees for 8-10 mins
7.
Mix tuna, sweet corn, scallions and
mayonnaise together
8.
Remove bread from oven and allow time to
cool.
9.
Remove from trays onto plates.
10. Fill with mixture
11.
Serve.
Vegetable soup
Ingredients
Carrot
Packet of soup vegetables
3 Chicken stock cubes
Soup mix
Salt and pepper to taste
Equipment
Chopping board
2 knives
2 peelers
Saucepan
Wooden spoon
Colander
Large bowl
Jug
Method
1.
Wash the vegetables and drain
in the colander
2. Peel the carrots
3. Chop the parsley and celery, slice the leeks
and carrots.
4. Place all vegetables in a large saucepan
5. Add the soup mix
6. Boil water and pour into jug on top of stock
cubes
7. Stir well and add to saucepan
8. fill saucepan with water and stir
9. add salt and pepper
10. Bring to boil. Turn down heat and simmer
until cooked
