Board Teleconference Minutes – September 28, 2015
Vision: STRIVE Collegiate Academy will cultivate collegeready high school graduates who will achieve post-secondary
success and become leaders in their communities, Nashville,
and beyond.
Mission: At STRIVE Collegiate Academy, our mission is to
prepare middle school students for success in high school,
college, and career. We will achieve this by empowering each
student with a literacy-based curriculum aligned across all
content areas in a culture that encourages leadership, virtue,
and excellence as the foundation for success in all of their
endeavors.
A. Attendance.
Present Board members: Dave Carter, Peter Deming, Michelle Doane, Sarah Ann Ezzell,
Justin Owen, Troy Smith, and Joseph Williams
Absent: None
B. Proceedings.
Mr. Williams called the August Board meeting to order and proposed approval of the
July minutes. All Board members in attendance approved.
1. Financial Report
Mr. Carter gave a short update on the August financial reported (submitted by
EdTec).
2. Performance Report
Student Update. Mr. Williams share update on attrition.
Staff Update. Mrs. Butler updated. STRIVE is 100% hired. STRIVE will begin their
Performance Management process to support teacher development. Job postings have
been posted to start the teacher recruitment process the 2016-2017 school year.
3. Board Report
Mr. Williams updated. Board set an goal of adding one-two board members by the end of
the calendar year.
Literacy, Leadership, & Personalized Learning
Meetings. Mr. Carter discussed the possibility of moving meeting days from Thursday
evenings to Saturday mornings.
