Week of November 9thNovember 13th
Social Studies
We will be learning about the first Thanksgiving. Our
kindergarten classroom will be a busy place as we get
ready for our Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast on
Friday, November 20th. This week we will begin creating
our Native American costumes. Please remember to
return your child’s Native American Name sheet to
school by Monday. We will be announcing your child’s
Indian Nature Name during Sharing Time.
Our class will be dressing up as Native Americans for
the feast and the children will be making their
costumes at school.
If you would like to donate $3 to cover the cost of the
pillowcases and fabric markers, we would greatly
appreciate your help.
Writing
During Writing Workshop, our class will compare and
contrast Pilgrim life of “long ago” and our lives
“today”. We will learn about chores that Pilgrim
children had to do compared with chores of children in
the year 2015.
We will learn about “Wild Turkeys” using the
informational website, PEBBLE GO and create a graphic
organizer to help us record information about
“TURKEYS”! We will use this information to write one to
two sentences about these funny birds! Did you know
that female turkey “clucks” while the male turkeys
“gobble”?
