therefore important that parents/guardians realistically assess their children’s strengths before

The Highland IB Diploma Programme is a partnership between the school, the student and the
parent/guardian. As such, the parents/guardians make an important contribution to their children’s
success. Please answer the following questions in the space provided.
1. IB assessment is a rigorous, criterion-referenced process. It can take a while for students (and
parents/guardians) to get used to these new expectations. Are you willing to support your son/daughter
as he/she adapts to a new system of grading?

2. Will you encourage your son/daughter to value all aspects of his/her IB experience, including the CAS
(Creativity, Action and Service), Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay Components?

4. Commitment to the IB programme requires considerable work outside class time. Part-time work may
be incompatible with the IB workload. Will you be willing to support your son/daughter in meeting these
