WALK-IN CLINIC – IMPORTANT NOTICE
The GP Partners at St Peters Street Medical Practice after discussion have
decided for patient safety, the walk-in clinic will now be capped to a
certain number of patients who can be seen every day Monday – Friday.
The GP Partners have set a number of patients that it is safe for a GP to see
during the walk-in clinic. When there are too many patients in a walk-in
clinic this can affect patient safety as well as GP’s working up until mid to
late afternoon which will also disrupt afternoon surgeries, home visits,
prescriptions and paperwork.
There will be a minimum of at least 4 GP’s seeing patients during the walkin clinic every day and on Monday and Friday the majority of the time
there will be 5 (please note that if a Doctor is on sick leave then there will
be less GP’s meaning the amount of patients that can be seen will be a
lower number).
You will still need to present at the surgery to put your name on the walkin list between 8.30am – 10am, but please bear in my mind that the earlier
you do this the more chance you will have of being seen. You may wish to
call the surgery if after 9.30am to check if there is still room on the walk-in
clinic list for that day. If the walk-in clinic is full before the 10am deadline
then you will need to come back in the next day to be seen by a GP or ask
the receptionist when the next pre-bookable appointment is available.
Please note that the Reception team are following the instructions from
the GP Partners as to how the walk-in clinic should be run.
STAFF CHANGES
We would like to welcome Daria to the practice who will be
working as a Reception Administrator.
Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to our Nurse Breda, we
wish her all the best in the future.
PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP
Our next PPG meeting will be held at the surgery on Wednesday the
25th of November at 4.00pm.
All patients are welcome to attend. The group meets quarterly to
discuss all aspects of the surgery; all patient feedback is greatly

GP’S NOT TAKING MESSAGES TO CALL BACK PATIENTS
The Reception team have been instructed that they are no longer
to take messages from patients to give to the GP’s for a call back.
If you wish to discuss a medical problem with a GP you can book
a telephone consultation in a pre-bookable appointment slot. You
can also attend the walk-in clinic if you need to be seen or if
medically urgent you can go on the telephone triage and the
Doctor on-call for that day will call you back to discuss the
problem.
If it is a prescription query you can call between 8.30am – 12pm
and select the prescriptions option and you will be put through to
the Reception Administrator who will deal with prescription
queries and if necessary liaise with the GP.
IHUB

who now offer evening and weekend appointments with a

NON-NHS PRIVATE FEES
A GP is entitled to charge a fee for any non-nhs service that is
not part of their NHS contract.
This can be anything from a HGV/Taxi medical, fitness for a
marathon, fitness to swim, fitness to act, private medical form
(AXA, Bupa, Pruhealth etc), Holiday cancellation forms etc.
Most fees are set by the British Medical Association (BMA) who
give GP’s a bracket guidance of fees of what they can charge for
certain services.
What may seem like a quick form that needs filling in can take a
GP up to an hour or two as usually they must go through all of a
patient’s medical record to give accurate information or to
make a decision about a patient’s health.
There is a list of fees for non-nhs services on the Practice
website.
MINOR AILMENTS FORM
There are certain minor ailments that you do not have to see
a GP for treatment. You can get advice and treatment from a
locl Pharmacist who has been trained to deal with minor
ailments such as cold/cough, cold sores, diarrhoea, earache,
eye infections, fever, hay fever, head lice, sore throats and
other ailments.
You can collect a form at reception to take to the pharmacy.
FREE NHS HEALTH CHECK
If you are aged between 35 and 74 you are entitled
to a free NHS health check at the surgery. The main
purpose for the health check is to try and help
lower the risk of developing diseases such as
diabetes, stroke, heart disease, kidney disease and
some forms of dementia. By having a health check
it can help to prevent these common diseases.
If you would like to book an appointment please
book at reception or call the surgery on 0207 288
9320.
Health checks are also available for patients who
are 75 and over.

important opportunity for you to provide feedback
on the services that provide your care and treatment.
