VIATOR IN 1SOURCE - FAQS
Who are Viator and why are they now in 1SOURCE?
Viator, a TripAdvisor company, is the world’s largest provider of day tours, sightseeing trips, excursions, show
tickets, activities & transfers. They have more than 15,000 products, covering 1,500 destinations with
600,000+ verified user reviews. They are headquartered in San Francisco with regional offices in Sydney,
London & Las Vegas. We want to offer you the widest range of day tour, sightseeing & transfer product in
1SOURCE and we believe the best way to do this is through a direct link with Viator.

What product gaps will Viator fill that the current 1SOURCE product didn’t cover?
Our current 1SOURCE contracted product range is limited to around 500 day trips/activities and 140 transfers
in our key cities across the world. Viator’s product range is huge, with over 10,000 sightseeing and day tour
products and over 1,200 transfers covering a much broader range of locations than we could ever contract
ourselves.
Whereabouts in the world are the day tours & activities?
Viator has product all over the world. All key cities are included and there are over 1,500 different destinations
in total!
Will the day tours & activities currently featured in the brochure be replaced by Viator?
No, we will still be keeping our most popular STAy contracts as we make more commission for you where we
have great sales volume. For reference, all brochure products will continue to be highlighted in blue and
located at the top of the search results. As time goes on, we may decide to contract some of these tours
through Viator, but still aiming to keep our high commissions.
How much commission will I earn?
Viator is delivered to you as NETT – so there is no commission included in the prices you see: you are able to
mark up the prices as you see fit.
What are the ‘estimated’ prices based on and how likely are they to change on checking availability?
Due to the way Viator’s system is designed, the estimated price shown in the search results (before you ‘check
availability’) is based on the cheapest possible selling price per adult multiplied by the number of people searched
for. This means that for a small amount of Viator products, the price returned may only be applicable for a larger
group. In this scenario, the price may change significantly when you ‘check availability’ and this will be more
likely to happen on products such as private transfers, where the ‘per person’ price is cheaper if more people
share the transfer.
Example: You search for transfers for 4 pax. The estimated price of a private transfer is 100 GBP based on the
‘cheapest possible per adult’ price of 25 GBP x 4 pax. However, the 25 GBP price is based on 8 pax sharing the
transfer, therefore the confirmed price doubles to 200 GBP once you click ‘check availability’ and the price is
correctly verified in the system.
Please note: In addition, some of Viator’s private transfers may display the wording ‘Price is per person, based
on X adults per car/vehicle’, this is standard wording from Viator which we cannot currently remove. The price
displayed in 1SOURCE once you’ve checked availability will always be the total party price for private transfers.
Please ensure that you only quote a price to your customer once you have clicked the ‘Check
Availability’ button and the price has been confirmed and displays in yellow.
Have Viator passed our STA Travel Health & Safety Audit & Animal Welfare guidelines?
Yes, Viator have been audited by our Health & Safety Manager and meet our Good Practice Guidance. We will
only be selling products that meet our Animal Welfare guidelines in 1SOURCE.

What are the cancellation conditions for Viator products?
There are two different types of cancellation conditions depending on the product;

Either 100% non-refundable within 3 days of travel date

Or 100% non-refundable from time of booking
The conditions will be displayed in the product information on the Rate/Room info tab, but only once you have
‘checked availability’.
Can I make next day bookings for customers?
Yes, bookings can be made for the next day, but please note the cancellation rules above which mean that any
bookings made for the next day will be non-refundable.
Can I make on request bookings?
No, all product from Viator is on free sell.
Why can’t I find the Viator product I’m looking for?
Just as with 1SOURCE product, some Viator products only depart on certain days of the week, so try expanding
your search criteria to a date range rather than a specific day and this should bring back more results.
Why are there two ‘Transfer’ tabs in 1SOURCE?
Viator Transfers can be found under the ‘NEW Transfers’ tab. The existing ‘Transfer’ tab will also remain in
1SOURCE temporarily and can continue to be used to search for AOT Transfers in AU & NZ and for all directly
contracted STAy Transfers. Over the next couple of months, we will be reviewing our STAy Transfer product
and re-loading our key contracts under the ‘NEW Transfers’ tab. We will also be re-loading any non-airport
transfers (e.g. boat transfers) which currently exist under ‘Travelpasses & Point to point’ to this tab too and
ultimately it will be renamed to just ‘Transfers’ and will be a single search tab for all Transfer product.
Why do some airport transfers not request flight pick up details during the booking process?
For these transfer products, the supplier accepts all bookings made through Viator and does not require the
flight pick-up details due to the fact that they can provide the service ‘on demand’. The customer just needs to
show their voucher on arrival at the airport to receive their service. Viator only use this method of booking for
suppliers with whom they have collaborated for a long time and where they are sure about the quality of the
services. Instructions on how to contact the supplier on arrival will be on the voucher.
Can I specify different pick-up locations for day trips or transfers for passengers travelling within the
same booking?
No, all passengers within a single booking must have the same pick-up/drop-off location as Viator only allows us
to specify this per party. If you have a group of passengers within a single booking that require different pickup/drop-off locations, you will need to create separate bookings for them within your 1SOURCE folder.
What is the standard child age for bookings through Viator?
There is no standard child age and this will vary by product. Child ages are displayed on the product information
under ‘Traveler Ages’, so please check here and complete a new search if the ages specified don’t correspond to
your original search criteria.
Will my customer get a voucher for their Viator booking?
Yes, there will be a link to their voucher on the Customer Itinerary document from DTM. The majority of Viator’s
products accept an e-voucher, but around 10% of products require a paper voucher to be printed out.
Please see the ‘How to book Viator in 1SOURCE’ document for more detailed information on vouchers.
