Objectives:By the end of this course students should be :
1- realize the nature of meaning, conceptions of meaning and the basic
ideas in Semantics such as reference ,symbol, denotation and implication.
2- recognize the semantic feature as well as semantics roles.
3- Know what is pragmatics, the difference between pragmatics and
Semantics and the different types of Speech Acts.
4- recognize Metaphor, Simile and other related figure of speech.
5- Know about collocation and semantic field and Deixis
6-identify the semantic change and etymology.
7-identify Lexicology & Lexicography.
