3rd Grade Math and Science Homework for the week of November 16, 2015
Science: We covered how speed is determined last week. SW will have a short quiz Tuesday November
17, 2015 on how speed is determined. On the quiz they will be asked the following:
How is speed determined? Answer: Speed= Distance/Time
They will be given a few examples of objects travelling the same distance but at different times and a
few examples of objects travelling for the same amount of time but different distances.
Examples: Which car is travelling faster; a car travelling at 60 miles/hour or a car travelling at 80 miles
per hour?
Jonny runs 1 mile in 6 minutes. Suzy runs 1 mile in 8 minutes. Who is running faster?
Steve walks 15 meters in 5 seconds. Jane walks 20 meters in 5 seconds. Who is travelling at a greater
speed?
Math: We have some students who are working on geometry and some who have started working on
perimeter. All students should be focusing on perimeter no later than Wednesday. Please use
www.tenmarks.com so students can practice on areas that they need to work on.
