These courses emphasize an integrated approach
to the study of grammar, reading comprehension,
literary appreciation, spelling vocabulary, oral
communication, and the writing process. Class
will begin each day with sentences from Daily Oral
Language, which contain errors that must be
identified and corrected in similar to some
questions on the writing portion of the SAT10.
Students will hone writing skills with emphasis
placed on modes of writing: narrative,
descriptive, expository, and persuasive. Students
read many types of literature.

These courses provide students with a
fundamental understanding of Matter and Energy,
Force and Motion, Characteristics of Living
Organisms, Interaction of Organisms, Earth’s
Processes, The Universe, Scientific Inquiry, and
Technology and the Environment.
Life Science provides an introduction to science,
energy, force, weather, climate, the Earth’s
systems and the living world.
Earth Science provides the foundations of science,
energy, the Earth and its features; the Earth’s

change; the Earth’s history; living things and how
they change and interact; genetics and heredity;
and the organization of the living world.
Physical Science introduces the nature of science,
earth and space science, properties of matter,
changes in matter, matter and energy, and energy
flow in the living world.

advanced placement.

This course will provide opportunities for students
to utilize and expose themselves to the Spanish
language, customs, and culture and language
acquisition: speaking, listening, reading and
writing.
Computers
Ms. Galvin-6th-8th Grade
This course provides students exposure to various
software programs, such as; word processing,
spreadsheet, and presentation software
applications and a fundamental understanding of
keyboarding and computer literacy skills.
Creative Writing
Ms. Wallace 6th-8th Grade
This course provides students with a clear
understanding of the steps of the writing process
through both writing and speaking.
Art
Ms. Hammond- 6th-8th Grade
This course emphasizes the fundamentals of art
language, painting, print making, two and three
dimensional art, and the understanding of the arts
across disciplines, such as; world history, art
history, science, social history, math, and so on.
