1. Exact description of request:
We are requesting a title change for the EDUINDP 323 Reflective Seminar: Assessment (1credit) to
clarify the title to match course descriptions. Content of course is determined by importance of current
topics in the field.

REFLECTIVE SEMINAR: Application of Issues in Early Childhood Education
Relationship to mission and strategic plan of institution, and/or college and department
goals and objectives:
The topic of this reflective seminar will be determined by current topics in the field and needs of
the students in attendance. Offering a variety of seminars reflects the University of WisconsinWhitewater mission “Responding to the changing needs within our global society, our programs
prepare professionals to actively engage in an open democratic society inclusive of diverse
populations”
2. Rationale: The title change will clarify the content of the course
This course provides teachers-to-be with opportunities to reflect upon and apply knowledge gained from
their course work and classroom experiences, discuss and share educational ideas, monitor professional
growth, formulate personal goals and objectives, collaborate with peers, and design new strategies and
methods for working with children, parents, and other professionals. Written and oral reflection and
other means of creative expression will be practiced with respect to both the content of current courses
and field work experiences. Prereq: Successful completion of all prior Early Childhood Education classes.

3. Cost Implications: This course is already included in the teaching load for Dr. Heimer, and
the changes proposed will not cause any additional load for her.
