ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT NEVERS INDUSTRIES Inc. is committed to our employees and community to be an environmentally conscious company. We are dedicated to producing the highest quality wood office furniture in a durable, environmentally responsible and economically viable manner. Nevers’ products use natural wood, engineered wood, and wood composite products in the construction of meeting and conferencing furniture. We practice these disciplines daily to ensure that we are a working steward of the environment: Almost all of our American hardwoods are grown within a 250 mile radius of our factory in Minneapolis, contributing to a naturally green harvest of raw lumber materials. Few other factories are located within such an enviable setting. We offer numerous FSC Certified veneers as standard product options. These veneers are then applied to FSC certified and Formaldehyde free flakeboard or medium density fiberboard. Our Veneer and Lumber Supplier heats their plant (located in Northern Wisconsin) with waste wood from the lumber process. Nevers applies a multi-ply table banding process to our furniture to conserve wood consumption. All wood and laminate materials are applied to a Formaldehyde free flakeboard or medium density fiberboard to satisfy the California Air Resources Board Standards. The particleboard and medium density products are FLAKEBOARD, which are the raw materials used as the core of our furniture stability is constructed from materials which do not contain any added urea-formaldehyde resins in the construction process. These are made from 100% recycled and recovered fiber. In fact, Nevers favors construction from environmentally friendly wheatboard. Comparable to MDF, wheatboard is created by compressing straw and wheat leftover from the Midwest harvest into a composite board. An estimated 400 million tons of straw and wheat are considered leftover from the harvest each year. This core material is available upon request. Nevers utilizes low VOC finishing products that produce low emissions resulting in cleaner air. Our state of the art spray equipment has a high transfer rate that reduces emissions. And, our Finishing Department extracts chemicals from rags before disposal. Scrap wood is separated from trash and recycled wood into wood chips for reuse as animal bedding or landscaping products. Hazardous chemicals are recycled into other durable products, and company wide, Nevers’ employees recycle paper, aluminum cans and cardboard daily. Nevers has invested more than $30,000 in conversion to new standards in lighting within the factory. This is reducing our energy draw for lighting by 20%. Nevers leases an 80,000 square foot of manufacturing and office space in a building zoned for manufacturing. Internally, we installed a sophisticated air make up system to filter all solids eliminated from our wood finishing department in compliance with all local, state and federal guidelines. Nevers pursues a continuous improvement process, searching for an applying new methods and products to protect and enrich our environment.
