Century Aluminum (formerly Alcoa), Plant Safety Coordinator
June 2013-Present
 Manages the Plant’s safety budget of approximately $300,000 annually under the direction of
the Plant’s Safety Manger.
 Oversees and manages the safety training program for new hires, the entire plant and acts as a
mentor to the departmental safety coordinators.
 Oversees critical five safety protocols which includes developing proficiency with ASAT
(audit software) management systems, monitoring self-assessed action plans.
 Works in concert with the Plant Safety Manager to include coordinating safety meetings,
assists supervisors with investigation of EHS incidents and provides critical review of EHS
incident report to ensure completion, root cause analysis, effectiveness of corrective actions
and monitoring of corrective action status. This responsibility also includes conducting audits
and oversight of the Incident Management System (IMS)
 Serves as a member and leader of safety teams as assigned and functions as the liaison
between the safety department and plant.
 Assists Human Resources Manager with efforts to successfully prevent unionization of the
facility and other related employee relation issues.

 Served as the Safety Coordinator and Human Performance advocate within assigned
department.
 Managed an annual safety budget of $100,000 for assigned department.
 Designed and oversaw an employee engagement program that increased departmental
productivity.
 Designed and oversaw an employee engagement program that increased departmental
productivity by 3 million pounds which correlated to an additional $2.5 million in revenue.
 Oversaw all incident investigations, safety communications, departmental training, managed
of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Fatality Prevention (FSI) and Human Performance

 Revised, created and interpreted Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safety Job
Procedures (SJPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
 Supported the departmental industrial hygiene efforts such as ensuring compliance, sampling,
new chemical and material requests, chemical labeling and storage and hazard
communications.
