Dear Senior and Senior Parents:
The school year is quickly coming to a close and with it comes the culmination of 13 years of schooling. There are many
activities that are associated with graduation from high school. This letter will provide you with the information that you
will need to assist with your personal plans during this busy time.
Because of this year’s Snow Days, the ACSC School Board has approved a plan for Seniors to complete the equivalent of
180 days of school. See pink handout entitled “Senior College/Career Experience a.k.a ‘Day 179 & 180’ for 2013-14.”
CAP AND GOWN:
Caps and gowns will be distributed to seniors in the ALC forum from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown you must contact Herff Jones at 839-1600. If a student does not pick up
his/her cap and gown on May 13, he/she will need to see Mrs. Shay in the Avon Advanced Learning Center Office. The
cap and gown may be kept by the graduate. Gowns should be hung up as soon as possible. This should take care of most
of the wrinkles. If the gown needs to be pressed, a cool iron should be used.
SENIORS HONORS NIGHT:
Date: Thursday, May 22, 2014
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Place: Avon High School Auditorium
This 7 p.m. program will honor seniors only. The members of the Class of 2014 are not required to attend this program,
but are encouraged to attend and support fellow classmates. Seniors receiving recognition will receive an invitation.
Students should dress appropriately for Honors Night as it is a special occasion.
RECOGNITION MEDALS AND CORDS:
Medals for the Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Academic Honors Diploma recipients and cords for Honor Society members
will be distributed on Honors Night, May 22, 2014.
LAPTOP COLLECTION / FINAL EXAMS:
Rental laptops will be collected and assessed on Friday, May 23, 2014.
Seniors will take final exams on Wednesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 29. More information regarding specific testing
periods will be released soon.

Date: Monday, June 2, 2014
Time: Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast begins at 9:00 a.m.

them. Please contact Mrs. Shay at 544-5300 no later than May 1, to reserve a seat on the shuttle bus.
