REPORT OF HWWE 2015 MUMBAI, INDIA The 13th International Ergonomics Conference – Humanizing Work and Work Environment 2015 (HWWE 2015) was jointly hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and the National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai from 7-9 December 2015. Under the theme of “Caring for people” the conference was co-hosted by the Nutrition Society of India (Mumbai Chapter) and the Punjab Engineering College (PEC) University of Technology, Chandigarh. Prof. Rauf Iqbal was Conference Co-chair and Prof. Vivek Khanzode was Secretary-Scientific committee. The conference witnessed deliberation of approx. 500 scientific papers (including poster presentation) in different categories as: theme speaker, special invited speaker, keynote speaker, lead speaker and registered delegates for oral presentation in parallel tracks. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Devang Khakhar (Director IIT Bombay), Prof (Ms.) Karuna Jain (Director NITIE), Dr. Yushi Fujita (President IEA), Prof. Manoj K Arora (Director PEC, Chandigarh), Prof. G.G. Prof. Karuna Jain, Director NITIE and Prof A.K. Pundir (Dean Students Affairs and Placements) had meetings with IEA dignitaries regarding projects of mutual interests and similar kind of programme in future. Accommodation to all the international dignitaries was provided in Anand Vihar guest house at NITIE and all invited speakers and senior delegates were accommodated in MDP house. This large gathering was supported by Fellow students of NITIE as volunteers - Shreya Maulik, Arundhati Guha Tahkurta, Siddharth Tripathi, Chandan Kumar Jha, Shridhar M Samant and Sanjib Kumar Das. Keynote speech by Dr. Anil Kakodkar Felicitation of President IEA by President ISE The conference started with pre-conference workshop on 6th Dec 2015 in which 6 parallel workshops were conducted in the areas of i) Automotive Design for School Children by Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd ii) Wellness at Workplace byINTERIO Division of Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. iii) Designing in an Inclusive Way - Emergency Evacuation System by Mr. Charudatta Jadhav iv) Ergonomic Exposure Assessment Methods for Manual Material Handling by Prof. Arun Garg v) Application of different tools used in work posture assessment by Dr. Deepak Saran and vi) Product Design & Innovation by Mr. Madan Kulkarni. The conference also organized ‘Young Researchers Award’ programme on 6th December in the categories of i) Under graduate ii) Post graduate and iii) Doctoral students. Winners in each category have been awarded with certificates and gift voutures of USD 200, USD 150 and USD 100 for 1st , 2nd, and 3rd positions respectively by Springer publication. Also Springer Publication has agreed publish select number of papers as a special book entitled “Ergonomics in Caring for People - Proceedings of International Conference on Humanizing Work and Work Environment 2015”. Select papers will be published by International Journal of Human Factors and Ergonomics (IJHFE) in a special issue. Manuscripts which would not find place in Springer and IJHFE will be published as conference proceedings with ISBN registration. Valedictory speech by Director NITIE Organizing committee HWWE 2015 In the valediction ceremony conference baton has been transferred to the National Institute of Technology Jalandhar, Punjab for hosting HWWE 2016. **************
