currently filling a permanent position for a client-focused professional that is looking to serve the interests
of Albertans.
Working with a group of talented and committed professionals, the Geologist is tasked with providing
sound technical advice to the department for non-renewable resource delineation and development
matters. This position focuses on a drive for results while providing technical research and advice related
to industry submissions for lease continuations, Crown equity issues, description of undisposed Crown
rights posted for leasing, enhanced recovery schemes, royalty issues, and access issues. This position
also provides advice related to oil sands, coal and mineral projects, integrated land use management
plans, and native and Metis land claim settlements. Focusing on a systems thinking approach, the
individual will effectively utilize Crown resources, particularly from oil and gas, the Geologist assesses
company data and conducts in-depth research and analysis for the creation of recommendations on
resource productivity and resource development policy. The key to this position is building collaborative
environments with internal and external committees to provide technical advice for program decisions,
while using creative problem solving when meeting with industry and Alberta Energy Resources
Conservation Board (ERCB) representatives to resolve complex technical interpretations.
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate sound knowledge of geological principles, industry
standards and practices, and knowledge of the stratigraphy of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin.
Your intuitive awareness of industry trends and issues will guide your ability to provide strategic advice
and creative problem solving. The ability to build collaborative relationships and your drive for results will
be the foundation that you require to provide timely, confident recommendations. The ideal candidate will
also demonstrate agility through the ability to anticipate, assess and readily adapt to changing priorities.
An outgoing, hard-working, positive self-starter will be the perfect complement for our drive for excellence
in our dynamic team.
