Lesson Subject: God Exists
1. Beginning Argument-Cosmological (SEED)
2. Design Argument-Teleological (BLUE PRINTS)
3. Morality Argument-Moral (WORD RIDDLE)
1. Beginning-Cosmological Argument- Studies of Cosmos & Universe show that the universe had a
beginning. It literally exploded into existence out of nothing.
- Radiation Afterglow -The universe exploded into existence. There are traces of radiation
afterglow in the universe, the same, as you would see after a great explosion.
- Second Law of Thermodynamics -The universe is running down; it is running out of energy.
In the beginning it had most energy. Swing the silver balls into motion, explain that the
same way someone gives energy to move the balls and eventually they stop, the same way,
the fact that the universe is running out of its energy, points out that there was a moment
when that energy started, and there had to be a source outside of the universe that gave it its
energy.
- The Universe is Heading Toward Disorder-In the beginning it was once in perfect order.
- The Universe is Expanding -In the beginning it started with nothing. Blow-up a balloon and
explain that if you let go of the end of the balloon it will go down to nothing, same with the
universe the fact that it is expanding lets us know that if the process was reversed in history,
the universe would shrink into nothing.
The Bible tells us: Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command,
How do Atheists & Agnostic Respond to This Evidence? The answer is POORLY!
According to the Big Bang Theory, the whole matter of the universe began to exist at a particular
time in the remote past. A creator of such a theory, at least if he is an atheist, must believe that
the matter of the universe came from nothing and by nothing.
(Atheist Anthony Kenny, Five Ways, 66)
“Astronomers now find they have painted themselves into a corner because they have proven,
by their own methods, that the world began abruptly in an act of creation to which you can
trace the seeds of every star, every planet, every living thing in this cosmos and on the earth.
And they have found that all this happened as a product of forces they cannot hope to discover.
. . . That there are what I or anyone would call supernatural forces at work, is now, I think, a
scientifically proven fact.”
(Agnostic Astronomer Robert Jastrow)
“For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad
dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; He is about to conquer the highest peak; As
he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting
there for centuries.”
(Agnostic Robert Jastrow, God and the Astronomers, 116)
2. Design-Teleological Argument-Complex design of universe–points to the Designer.

Intelligent Design or Natural Cause of Universe?
Oxygen comprises 21% of the atmosphere. If it were 25%, fires would erupt; if it were 15%
humans would suffocate.
If the universe was expanding at a rate one millionth more slowly than it is, earth would not
exist.
If the gravitational force were altered by 1 part in 1040, the sun would not exist, and the moon
would crash into the earth or sheer off into space.
If the centrifugal force of planetary movement did not precisely balance the gravitational
forces, nothing could be held in orbit around the sun.
The average distance between stars in our galaxy is 30 trillion miles. That distance is needed
for earth to exist in it’s present life-supporting position.
Intelligent Design or Natural Cause of Life?
1. One-cell-ameba’s DNA= 1,000 Volumes of an Encyclopedia
2. Human Brain= 20 million books! That’s 1,000 books on every seat in Madison Square Garden!
DNA is like the most complex organic message hidden inside of each living cell. If you see the alphabet
cereal forming a message “Take out the garbage -MOM next to the tipped-over box, do you think cereal
must have fallen so perfectly into place and created a message, or do you think mom left you a note she
created. The same way complexity of the universe and life on earth points to its “Intelligent Designer”,
God. It’s hard to believe, all the universe and life in it, has fallen so perfectly into place by natural law. A
poem suggests the irony of atheist world view: Once I was a tadpole when I did begin: Then I was a frog
with my tail tucked in: Then I was a monkey swinging in a tree: Now I’m a professor with a PhD.
Isaiah 40:26, 28 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing…
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
3. Morality Argument -Moral–Every law has a lawgiver. Just like every prescription has a
prescriber. There is an absolute Moral law. Therefore, there is an absolute Moral Lawgiver.
a) We know there’s a Moral Law, by our reactions, not our actions.
If I steel I might not think it’s wrong, but if someone steels from me, I feel wronged.
b) We know there is a Moral Law-Giver, by an existence of perfect standard.
Mother Teresa & Hitler. How do you know who is right who is wrong? The same way you know which
map of Scotland is true which is false, by looking at the standard, which is the real Scotland. The same
way we know what is right and what is wrong, we compare it to the ultimate standard of right. That is
God. C.S. Lewis wrote: “The standard of justice is in God the ultimate moral lawgiver. As an atheist my
argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. (If God exists why is there so
much evil in the world?) But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line
crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with, when I
called it unjust?”
Isaiah 5:16 But the LORD Almighty will be exalted by his justice,
and the holy God will show himself holy by his righteousness.
Every law has a lawgiver. Just like every prescription has a prescriber. There is an absolute Moral law.
Therefore, there is an absolute Moral Lawgiver. We want to say there is no God because there is evil,
wrong and immorality in the world, but where does our sense of wrong and immoral come from, if not
from God who has placed it there.
5) Arguments for existence of GOD-Summary.
– Beginning Argument-Cosmological
– Design Argument- Teleological
– Morality Argument- Moral
Can anyone tell me one thing that connects these arguments?
All these arguments point to the existence of God, and none of them are taken from the Bible.
The universe and life around us, point to an intelligent, all powerful, personal and moral designer.
All these are the attributes the Bible applies to the Christian God!
