Some Background
 He lived from 1548-1600
 He was born in Nola, Italy, which was near Naples
 His real name is Filippo, the name Giordano was
used after he joined the Dominican Order
 He was schooled in Aristotelian philosophy
Why his is important
 He devised new ways to improve memory
 He was a philosopher who believed that the Earth
was not the center of the universe and that the Earth
was extremely small in importance when compared
to the greater, infinite universe
 He traveled across Europe to spread his ideas
 He also spoke out against the church and was burned
at the stake for it
His Death
 After traveling across Europe, he was lured back to
Italy in a ruse led by the Church
 They handed him over to the inquisition, who
promptly burned him at the stake
