CEMES – Southampton – Young Vocations
We are looking to recruit four young adults (aged 18-30) who are excited about the possibility of exploring their calling and
vocation through a year volunteering as Leadership Assistants with a diverse group of churches in Southampton.
This year will give you practical experience in parish ministry, church leadership, community engagement, pioneer mission and
fresh expressions of church – while also offering you the opportunity to receive weekly teaching in Christian theology and
missional leadership through St Mellitus College.
CEMES Southampton is a new programme funded by the national ‘Church of England Ministry Experience Scheme’ and
supported by Winchester Diocese and Southampton Deanery – and is completely FREE to join!!

Education – Help support our schools
The joint Diocesan Board of Education have the privilege and responsibility of working with 152 Church of England Schools and
Academies across our region – about 32,000 children! The distinctive and successful nature of our schools is something we
celebrate and wish to not just maintain, but enhance and extend as education policy and direction responds to society’s
challenges and developments.
We are looking to gather a team of people to work alongside Diocesan colleagues to support and to equip parishes, individuals
and schools, in areas of Governor Support and Training; Christian distinctiveness and Values and Parish Support for Schools
Work. Several former teachers; current teachers; those who have skills in governance; and those who work/have worked in
schools, both lay and ordained, have already come forward to ask if they can be of assistance.
If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Liz Hodson liz.hodson@portsmouth.anglican.org / 02392 899 658, who
would be delighted to invite you to a meeting where our plans and aspirations can be shared with you.
St Mellitus College – World-class theology streamed to Southampton
St Mellitus is one of the most exciting and innovative centres of theological study and training for
missional leadership in the UK today. Here in Southampton, we have the opportunity to stream teaching
from the first year of the St Mellitus BA course in ‘Theology, Ministry & Mission’ – delivered by a wide
range of world-class scholars and first-rate practitioners.
This high-quality training will help Christians at any life stage to explore their faith more deeply, while
preparing students for leadership in ministry or mission, equipping those who are called to pioneer new
churches, and offering a challenge to explore how the church can adapt to a fast-changing world. If you
want to explore your faith, stretch your mind, and expand your heart - this is an incredibly exciting opportunity!

Grantfinder – Community Engagement Workshop
Thursday 2 July
6.45pm - 9.45pm at
St Paul’s Bursledon (SO31 8DT)
Are you engaging with your local community? Are they walking in or walking past?
Are you providing your community with what it needs? How can you find out what it needs?
When there’s so much to do just to keep the show on the road we can sometimes forget to look forward, plan for the future
and consider how best to serve and engage with our communities. Do you want to learn more about how to engage with your
wider community, drawing on substantial expertise in the charity world?
This free workshop will be run by Action Hampshire, and will be led by Kevin Sawers. Kevin’s main role at Action Hampshire is
all about supporting the people who run community buildings in Hampshire. These facilities, often the lifeblood of their local
community, are generally managed by a committee of volunteers, with only the larger buildings having paid managers or
administrators. Kevin aims to help all these people know how to run their building effectively and economically, for the longterm benefit of the community.
To secure your place, please send an email to jayne.tarry@winchester.anglican.org as soon as possible.
