Vocabulary/Notes:
■ Students with disabilities who take and pass Mathematics 1 in conjunction with
a mathematics support class and Mathematics 2 in conjunction with a mathematics support class
upon determination through the Individualized Education Plan process may meet diploma
requirements by completing Mathematics 3 or its equivalent for a total of 3 math credits.
Completion of 3 units of math may not meet mathematics admission requirements for entrance
into a University System of Georgia institution or other post-secondary institution without
additional coursework.
 The fourth science unit may be used to meet both the science and elective requirements.
 All students are encouraged to earn two units of credit in the same modern
language/Latin. Students planning to enter or transfer into a University System of Georgia
institution or other post-secondary institution must take two units of the same modern
language/Latin.
EOCT: End-of-Course Test – state test given at the end of 9th Lit, American Lit, Coordinate Algebra, Analytic Geometry, Physical Science,
Biology, US History, and Economics – counts 20% of final grade.
High School Diploma - the document awarded to students certifying that they have satisfied attendance requirements, unit
requirements and the state assessment requirements.
Special Education Diploma - the document awarded to students with disabilities assigned to a special education program who have
not met the state assessment or who have not completed all of the requirements for a high school diploma but who have nevertheless
completed their Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
