Tentative Schedule of Events
Thursday, June 23:
7:00 pm: Reception: “Welcome with the Gears”. Location TBA.
Friday, June 24:
8:00 am – 9:30 am: The Wyoming Dinosaur Center Dig Tour. High in the rolling hills above Thermopolis the bones of
dinosaurs have laid buried in layers of rocks for millions of years. Water will be provided. Wear good walking shoes, sun
screen recommended. Group maybe split into two groups.
9:30 am – 11am: The Wyoming Dinosaur Center with Greg Willson. The walk through time allows you to follow the evolution
of ancient life, from the most primitive forms to the rise of the dinosaurs. Guided tour through an air conditioned museum,
tour will include a tour of the lab. Group maybe split into two groups.
Lunch: On your own. See enclosed Dining and Accommodation Guide for a list of local restaurants.
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm: A Night at the Museum: Hot Springs County Museum. Buffalo Burger/Buffalo Brats Dinner. The Gears
will give a private reading from the book they’re currently working on. It’s unpublished material. You’ll be the first to hear it!
Belly up to the bar where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid once frequented.
Saturday, June 25:
8:00 am – 12:00 pm: Legend Rock Petroglyph with John Fish & Michael Gear and Kathleen O’Neal Gear. Legend Rock
Petroglyphs are located 45 minutes west from Thermopolis. This site is one of the oldest and best examples of the Dinwoody
rock art in the world. Ancient people made nearly 300 individual petroglyphs during the past several thousand years and their
variety of beauty have fascinated all who have seen them. New Rock Art Site to be viewed. Water and a light snack will be
provided. The bus does not have air conditioning: wear layers of clothing and good walking shoes. Wyoming in June can be
hot and dry, but we have also been known to have snow on the 4th of July. Group maybe split into two groups.

2:00 pm -3:00 pm: Book signing by Michael Gear and Kathleen O’Neal Gear at the Storyteller located at 524 Broadway.
Please bring any copy of their book that you would like signed. Copies available to purchase to fill your collection.
Evening on your own to enjoy the attraction of Thermopolis.
Sunday, June 26:
8:00 am-12:00 pm: Hot Springs State Park Tour: buffalo ecology, discussion of the mineral water, medicinal plants and
geological formations. Character Walk along the Big Horn River to show were Bad Belly pulled White Ash from the river and
more.
Lunch: On your own. Don’t forget to reference the Dining and Accommodation Guide.
1:00 pm: Ice Cream Social with Michael Gear and Kathleen O’Neal Gear at the Black Bear Cafe.
3:00 pm - 6:00 pm: Conclusion Party: Days Inn meeting room.
