Michael R. Niemeier, MD, elected to
Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana Board of Directors
(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI) is honored to announce Michael R. Niemeier
M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital has been elected to the Board of
Directors for Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana.
Doctor Niemeier has been the Chief Medical Officer of Methodist Hospital since 2009. Prior to taking this
role Dr. Niemeier provided many years of pulmonary and critical care services for Methodist Hospital and
the Indianapolis community. Dr. Niemeier was a founding member of the medical group Respiratory &
Critical Consultants, and served as its President until the consolidation into Indiana University Health
Physicians. He has previously served on the IU Health West Hospital Board of Managers and was Chairman
for the Board Committee on Quality and Safety for IU Health West.
Dr. Niemeier currently serves on the Boards of the Methodist Research Institute, Indiana University Health
Physicians, Methodist Health Foundation, and the Quality and Patient Care Committee for the IU Health
Board of Directors.
In addition to his Chief Medical Officer role, Dr. Niemeier serves as the Medical Director of Adult Critical
Care Services and Respiratory Care for Methodist Hospital. Dr. Niemeier has been married for 36 years and
is blessed with four children and three grandchildren.
