IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR REAPPROPRIATE PARTICIPANTS
HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE STUDY ?
There is a Help page in English available with screenshots of the different stages of the
registration process (upper left corner of Home Page).
We tried to make the registration straightforward and comparable to access at other
websites. These are the steps to be taken:
1. surf to www.reappropriate.eu. If you want you can look at a 4 minute video
informing you about the REAppropriate study (with English comments).
2. push the ‘register’ button
3. select 'country'
4. if in your country informed consent is needed, you will have to read and confirm
this document before you can register NEJ, INTE NÖDVÄNDIGT I SVERIGE
5. select 'center' (if you work in more than one participating center, please select
the center where your main activity is)
6. enter a username of your choice
7. enter an email address of your choice
8. enter a password of your choice
9. enter the password a second time (you will be advised on how to create a safe
password if necessary)
10. push the button 'register' and you can immediately start the survey without
having to wait for anything !
The system will send an email confirming that you registered with your username and
password.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The REAppropriate study is completely anonymous ! The
only reason an email address is asked is that you will be able to reset your password if
you want to (in case you have interrupted the survey and want to restart at a later time
but forgot your password). This information will be removed from the dataset as soon as
the study has ended and will never be available to anyone involved in the study!
Nobody will be able to trace the content of your answers to you as an individual
participant: not the study team, not your supervisors, nobody !
INFORMATION RELATED TO ITEMS IN THE HEALTHCARE PROVIDER SURVEY
WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE MOST RECENT CERTIFICATES YOU HOLD
If you haven't done the course mentioned in the question, please skip the item.
If you have done the course less than one year ago, you can enter a number with
decimals, for instance 0,5 if you have done the course 6 months ago.
WHICH ‘LAST RESUSCITATION’ TO SELECT?
During the survey you will be asked about 'the last resuscitation you were involved in
yourself (out-of-hospital or in the Emergency Department) or if the resuscitation was
not started (excluding extreme conditions, for instance decapitation)’.
- please discuss the LAST cardiac arrest situation in which you were involved, NOT the
one you remember best !!! Some examples of such a cardiac arrest situation are
(depending on where you work (out of hospital, in the Emergency Department):
- an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest where you were part of the resuscitation team or
- a cardiac arrest occurring within the walls of the ED or
- an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patient being resuscitated en route to the hospital and
where you receive the patient in the ED while he is still in cardiac arrest and
resuscitation is continued in the ED or
- a cardiac arrest where you arrived and resuscitation was not started (EXCLUDING of
course straightforward situations like rigor mortis, decomposition, decapitation etc.
where nobody gets the idea of starting a resuscitation)
The selected resuscitation or cardiac arrest event should be while you are working as a
staff member of the participating center.
Cardiac arrest events in patients already hospitalised in general wards, CCU or ICU
should NOT be selected.
A cardiac arrest event where you arrive after the patient has return of spontaneous
circulation is also not eligible.
